Services
Congratulations on becoming a puppy or kitten parent! It is best to make an appointment to do a thorough physical examination as well as a fecal exam to check for intestinal parasites within days of bringing them home. We will discuss nutrition and create a vaccine and preventative care plan together.
We use our microscope to assess skin and ear swab samples, looking for parasites and the nature of infections. We are equipped with an in-house chemistry and cell blood count machine. We use these machines to give us faster results on samples taken from ill animals and for doing pre-anesthesia panels on the day of procedures.
Our in-house pharmacy contains several heartworm and flea and tick preventative medications. We also carry nearly every medication we prescribe to our patients whether it is a supplement, medicated shampoo, or a treatment for infections, allergies, gastrointestinal or thyroid disease. Many medications that are not on hand can be ordered or prescribed elsewhere.
Dental care always starts at home. We advise our pet owners to clean their pet's teeth daily. This usually involves wiping the outsides of the teeth without even opening the mouth. Regular exams may reveal the need for a dental prophylactic procedure, when the tartar starts to build up and especially when there is visible gingivitis.

Prior to West Wrigley Animal Hospital, I was taking my 3 y/o ACD to VCA. My rescue dog previously had some dental damage in her past life and needed 12 teeth removed. After being recommended to West Wrigley by a friend, I took my dog in for a dental estimate and found that West Wrigley was able to do the same procedure and quality of work for significantly less. I've been taking my pets to Dr. Murphy for 10 years now, and wouldn't go anywhere else in the city. She's great with even our most anxious dog, takes the time to answer all our questions, and has been amazing with our dogs from puppyhood to old age. The office even sent me a card after one of our dogs passed away from old age. And her staff has always been kind, gentle, and trustworthy with our pets. Doesn't matter what neighborhood we move to or the fact that we don't own a car - we make our way back to this vet every time.

Dr. Murphy and staff are friendly, responsive, and knowledgeable. I've been taking my mini dachshund there for about 18 months and always have a pleasant experience. The staff is prompt, capable, and communicative. They work great with my very nervous dog and always let us know exactly what they're doing and about how long a given appointment will take. I've been taking Fozzie to West Wrigley Animal Hospital for over 5 years. Drs. Murphy and Scott are the best diagnosticians and most caring animal doctors I've ever met. We were there on 7/22/2019 and they prescribed medication for allergies, clipped Fozzie's nails, and suggested products for his arthritis. No wait. Vet techs. are also awesome...caring and knowledgeable. So glad I found them.
