Services
Treat your pet to a luxurious bath. Our special, cleansing baths remove dirt, debris and that doggie pet odor - your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. If scratching is a problem, our medicated baths contain soothing agents that stop the itching. Baths also include nail trim, ear cleaning and express anal glands.
I have been the owner of Uptown Animal Hospital since 2010 and it has been such a great experience! I was born and raised in Southern California and currently reside in Signal Hill. I received my bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and went to Ross University where I obtained my doctorate in veterinary medicine.
The vet and all the employees here are so nice and helpful. Their prices are reasonable too! "They don't try to push you into buying something you don't need for their dogs." We just rescued a 6 week old kitten that was found in a wood pile, and we took our little guy, Roo, to get a good check up. I work in the veterinary industry so I have a high standard for the quality of service and quality of care my pet and I receive.
Uptown Animal Hospital strives to provide our clients and patients with the best possible veterinary service available, in doing so we have opted to be AAHA Accredited. 3,000 hospitals are AAHA-accredited - that's only 15% of all veterinary practices in the U.S. and Canada. Enhance the abilities of veterinarians to provide quality medical care to companion animals.

We've been clients for over 3 decades and until recently have been extremely happy. When the pandemic hit & they stopped their grooming services, we tried to work with them, then they cancelled routine visits for vaccines with less than 24hrs notice because their technicians couldn't make it to work. The final straw came when they scheduled us with their "fill in vet", not our regular doctor for a senior check up, and she recommended seeing the dog ophthalmologist & cardiologist. We listened to her recommendations and we saw the specialists neither doctor could find

UPDATE: Inka is now one month post op and she is doing AMAZING. As a 14 year old pup we didn't know if it was ethical to make her go through the recovery from removing multiple seizures down her entire abdomen -- Dr Voltine made us comfortable about our decision to go through with it. Dr. Voltine is incredibly smart, compassionate, professional, and HONEST, we felt good about it. Inka was up and walking within a few days and today she is SO energetic, she now finishes her food, her overall quality of life is so much better. Thank you so much

When we lived in Florida we had the very best vet take care of my dogs. I was afraid I would never find a vet that would be so good to our baby dogs however I was so wrong. Uptown Vet meets the great services we found in Florida.
I can not say enough about the entire staff. I have a real problem leaving my leaving my dogs anywhere but I have no problem leaving the baby’s there when necessary without being upset the whole time they are there.
Thank you to the entire staff. 🐶😎

I brought my dog Bella here and the staff was very helpful and kind. My dog had a bladder infection, and a skin infection and they got us in the same day. They gave her medicine explained everything in detail, and within 3 days my Bella was feeling so much better! Now her bladder infection is gone, she is eating more, and her skin infection is gone. I love Uptown Animal Hospital, I have been to other places in long beach, but this is the best vet I have been to since I have lived in Long Beach. Thank you guys so much for helping my Bella!!! You guys are the best!

I have been coming to Uptown Animal Hospital for close to 10 years and have nothing but good things to say about Dr Voltin and her team. She is always very caring, compassionate and knowledgeable - from the small routine checkups for my cat Felicity and dog Buster, to helping us through the difficult medical treatment and eventual passing of our dear cat Cary a few years ago. Our experience has been so positive with Dr Voltin and her staff that my daughter volunteered there this past summer (she wants to be a vet) and had a very rewarding experience.

Friendly and affordable. We took our senior pitbull in for his first teeth cleaning. All the other places I called wanted to anesthetize him and charge huge amounts of money. Uptown employees know how to make you and your pet comfortable. It's one of those places you know you can trust your pet with. So glad we found a vet we can go to for the rest of our dog's life.

I didn't even make it in to see the vets, so I can't attest to their knowledge or care. They're close to home, so I figured I'd give them a try.
I called because I have a sick pet, and was disappointed in his care at another vet. I was given an appointment 8 days out, which was bad enough. Maybe get more vets, or extended hours for working people.
Before hanging up the phone, I verified that my appointment was for "next Tuesday, and not tomorrow". When I arrived for my appointment, they had me scheduled for the Tuesday that was 15 days out.
So, if they can&apos

Let's clear up one review on this thread right now. BEACH G., I find it interesting that you have a photo in your reviews of your eyebrows that DEFINITELY don't match the photo you have on your profile. That seems a bit deceptive. And I've screenshot the photo to post.
I've been coming to Uptown Animal Hospital for at LEAST 6 years, probably more. I have NEVER experienced any type of behavior that was outlined in that review. Is anyone perfect? Absolutely not. What I respond to is consistency and personal experience in which both of those, have been very pleasant with Doc.

Wanted to give a big shout out to Annie at Uptown Vet on Atlantic. I just brought my kitty Lucy home from getting her teeth cleaned and Lucy has a caution on her file. At a prior vet they had to give her anesthesia. Annie did not have to give Lucy anesthesia and she said Lucy did great. Annie had her out of there in an hour. The gal who checked me out says most of the caution kitties let Annie do the cleaning without anesthesia. This is extremely fantastic, super happy, great job Annie!!!

Beware of the Veterinarian Julie Voltin here she is extremely racist and never in the best interest of the pets! One of the techs left the room doors open & we overheard DR. voltin saying she doesn't know why the owners are putting in so much effort saving the dog when he wont make it overnight anyways followed by giggling! She also said she didn't know " Black people could afford such an expensive surgery ". I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND anyone taking their pets to her hospital after the things we overheard her saying. SHE'S IN IT FOR THE MONEY!! NO SYMPATHY FOR THE PETS

Uptown Animal Hospital has served our household of pets for over 20 years, and has typically done so with compassion, expertise, and timely interventions when required. As a result, we have enjoyed the companionship of pets beyond their normal life expectancy. Over the past two years, Uptown's vets have correctly and promptly diagnosed life-threatening health conditions (Addison's Disease, thyroid tumors, etc), and offered realistic interventions and outcomes. Dr. Voltin, her vet technicians and front office staff take their time to get to know each pet and owner. Clear and timely

I just love this office soo much! The staff, front and back, are very sweet and always pleasant. The office is very clean and doesn't smell like most veterinary clinics. Dr. Bergstrom has been amazing with me and my 13 year Maltese. He's very knowledgeable and always up front with services and costs. It's hard to find all of these qualities in a Vet!

I had to put my dog down and was putting it off but he became really sick and I knew it was time. My dogs vet was trying to charge double the price of this place.
I didn't know what to expect since I had never done this before. I felt they were very compassionate and made the process as good as it could have gone.
I wish I would have found this Vet sooner. I have had so many bad experiences that towards the end I stopped taking him because it seemed the medication vets were pushing was making him worse.
My dog went peacefully.

Update. I was informed by the office manager that the puppy plan would have been too expensive for my pup - since he's a rescue that already was neutered and microchipped, he only needed his vaccines. The plan covers not only vaccines, but also neutering and chipping (don't take my word on this, I don't know for sure). It was nice that I was informed of it.
Another lovely note - I took my pup in to get his heartworm test and was informed it may not be necessary since he's been on medication. If I had gone to any other place, I'm sure that they would have done the test
