A third-generation Oregonian and 1995 honors graduate of the OHSU School of Dentistry, Dr. Dowsett comes from a long line of physicians and pharmacists. He is married to his dental school love, Dr. Kristi Dowsett, D.M.D. She is currently retired from direct patient care but continues to consult. Outside of the clinic, both Dr. Dowsetts are busy loving and raising three teenagers with days full of volleyball, soccer, theatre, art, and science.
Complete Health Dentistry of Portland is pleased to now offer a Dental Wellness Plan that provides savings to our patients that do not have any dental benefits. This plan is available to both new and existing patients. Knowing that dental insurance premiums are expensive and that those benefits can be limited, we have created a comprehensive and customized membership program that will cover 100% of your preventative care in our practice.

The team is so caring & thorough. They look at the big picture of health while caring for & helping problem solve my dental needs. They are always up to speed on the latest research as well. My hygienist Karen treats me as a person she cares for deeply, remembers details about me that improve quality of care. Dr. Dowsett and his entire crew at Total Healthy Dentistry are considerate and hard workers. They gave me professional and trustworthy advice about my dental care and listened to my concerns. My hygienist Karen is gentle yet thorough and kept track of my needs during the service. I can't say I look forward to visiting the dentist, but as close as one can get to it !!

As always, I had another fantastic experience with Dr. Dowsett and his staff; I've been a patient of his since he began his practice. I had a crown replaced today from about 30 years ago. They worked diligently to ensure that the color, texture, shape, and comfortable fit were perfect. This will allow me to whiten my other teeth a couple of times a year and still match the color of my new tooth. My family couldn't hardly tell which was the crown versus my real teeth. I look forward to my next "cleaning" appointment in a few months.

This is the best dentist I’ve ever been to in my life. Surprised I haven’t left a review yet. I was referred here by my orthodontist when I was getting adult braces. Really took their time to clean my teeth safely and correctly the months before braces. I had to wear periodontal trays and I’ve now received 2 cleanings from here. The office ladies make it special Kim and Judy. They are so very genuinely thoughtful and helpful! Dr. Dowsett’s office has a very affordable dental cleaning plan for QUALITY care. Treat you like a neighbor or a friend that they want the best for.

I have gone to Dr Dowsett for 18 years. I trust him without reservation to do what’s necessary for my dental health. He provides options with pros and cons and involves me in my health choices. He is a perfectionist, and on one occasion, he was unhappy with the way a crown fit in my mouth and had a new one made. Many dentists would have… called it ‘good enough’ and I wouldn’t have known the difference but he was concerned that I could develop gum disease due to food getting stuck between my teeth. We've been patients of Dr. Dowsett for MANY years. I can't praise him and his staff enough. He is extremely careful, gentle, and concerned about getting things RIGHT, and both he and his staff are always helpful, understanding, cheerful, accommodating, and professional. The office's COVID protocols are very thorough, very clear, and very reassuring. They even have the air purifiers in every room. I always feel 100% confident in the care and attention I receive there!

I love this dentist office. everyone is so great there. they have made my dental visit feel very safe during these times. Dr Dowsett is the best and Karen takes great care of my teeth. Judy always has a smile. you may not be able to see it but you can tell in her eyes. they light up when you walk in the door. Also kudos to Kim, the dental assistant and Kim thr office manager. highly recommend this office.

Going to the dentist is extremely anxiety-inducing. No place is perfect, but I drive 19+ miles to go here because Dr. Dowsett is understanding, experienced, reasonable and competent. Good luck finding any other dentist with those four attributes. I have tried other dentists (because nobody wants to drive almost 20 miles to see a dentist), and while many are great, they all lack some quality that I'm willing to sacrifice for a shorter drive. It's really the only dental office where I feel safe.

What a great experience. Doctor Dowsett was thorough and gentle. His assistant, I can't remember her name, was very detailed oriented and had an excellent bedside manner as we went over my dental history. The doctor is lucky to have such a supportive team. The staff is always welcoming, helpful, and happy to answer questions. I feel I'm getting excellent dental care that I can trust. Who would think I could be excited about getting a call to reschedule an appointment...but when I saw "David Dowsett" on the caller ID, I jumped for joy! We're so glad he's open again (with all precautions taken) and feel happy and confident going back. He and his staff have continued to be A-1, 110%, five-star, 10 out of 10, Best Dental Office EVER in our book! (P.S. Read the "not currently recommended" reviews down below...I think Yelp does that because they are older, but all are five-star reviews!)

These guys really make me feel at home. Super friendly, super professional! I just started seeing David, what a difference from the last dentist I saw! They really put in the effort to keep you comfortable with a gentle touch, and informed so you know exactly what's going on every step of the way. I am recommending David all over town!
