Services
At the core of our dental practice is a friendly team of professionals that are dedicated to your utmost comfort and optimal oral health. We view each patient as a unique individual, and tailor each treatment to your specific needs. As part of our commitment to providing close, personalized attention to every patient, we want to encourage patient communication.
We offer Doctor and Hygiene selected days and times from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. including noon hour appointments. In addition we provide cleaning appointments on select Saturdays monthly. Our office is located two miles straight north of the intersection of Lexington and 694, and just north of the Shoreview Village Mall.
With over 75 years of combined experience our Doctors are continually striving to improve Dental health care and delivery through their continuing education, philanthropy, volunteerism and investment in technology. They are some of the leading cosmetic and restorative Dentists in the region.
All of our Doctors are members of the American Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association, Saint Paul District Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association.

Dr. Norsted founded Northview Dental in 1980 after receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota. With over 25 years of service, Dr. Norsted has been a leader in both the dental community and in public service. In 2006 and 2007 he joined Mission Jamaica to provide critically needed dentistry and supplies to hundreds whom otherwise have no access.
Dr John Rieke is a 1997 graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He joined the Northview Dental team in 2005 to provide specialty esthetic and functional periodontal care (gum care) to our patients and those of other area dentists. He completed a General Practice Residency in 1998 and a rigorous Specialty program in Periodontology in 2002.

We received dental care for more than 10 years with Dr. Johnson and Swenson. The overall experience was exceptional with efficient, professional, courteous and respectful service. We have moved to different city and are missing this service. One of our daughters is in graduate school and continues to visit this office whenever she visits us. Her insurance policy doesn’t cover dental so she pay cash for the service. The price for student has been exceptional as the service.

In my 67 years, I have never experienced a dental office so efficiently run, so well staffed with excellent people and so replete with state-of-the-art equipment.Dr. Swenson is superior and his competence is readily observable. Sam did a lovely job in x-ray and was very pleasant with which to work. Carrie did an excellent job as a hygienist and was also very pleasant. Not to be left out, Karen, in accounting, made me feel like I was chatting with an old friend. Thank you all. I do and will recommend your practice highly.

I have been going to Northview Dental for over 20 years. I have very high anxiety about my teeth, and I’ve always been treated in a kind, comforting, and professional manner. Not only are Dr. Swenson and Erin masters of their craft, but their “bedside manner” will put anyone at ease. I cannot recommend them highly enough, they are truly the best!

A true Godsend! In Michigan, I had a LOT of bad work done. I mean, a LOT! I had literally lost all faith in the dental profession and had zero trust in anyone...UNTIL Dr. Norsted came to the rescue! My story is long, so I will spare you that until a later time....but what Dr. Norsted did for me is nothing short of amazing. Staff is super friendly, office is extremely clean, and the professionalism is off the charts fantastic. I finally feel like I have hope again.

Bad first, Good Second.
1) The bad: Had an appointment, Hygienist was there, and Dentist was not.
2) The bad: Got a mouth guard that got stuck on my teeth on the first try, Dentist had to cut it off. Gave me a sports guard instead and still charged me the same price as the mouth guard.
3) The bad; Nagged about scheduling routine appointments, and then they scheduled an appointment without checking with me first.
4) The good; Did pull 1 tooth with no problems.
5) The good; Did make fake tooth no problems.
Never had major work done there so I cannot comment.

After aging out of my former dental office, I found Northview and am loving it. I didn't know it was possible to enjoy a visit to the dentist! Usually an anxious person around dentists, I've never had nerves about getting my teeth taken care of here. Everyone at Northview is so personable and eager to make comfort a priority.

Our family has had our share of horrible dentists. Which is why it made it so easy to identify a great dental office! The staff are friendly from the moment you walk in the front doors. The hygienist and dentist are thorough without taking excessive time. By the end of your visit you feel like you chatted with friends and have fresh clean teeth to boot! Our insurance doesn't pay at it's highest tier by going to Northview Dental. We feel that the care we receive is worth the extra out-of-pocket expense.

This clinic was on my in network list so I called to make sure they took my insurance. They said they would check to see if they were accepting new clients with my plan. The receptionist asked me how I heard about them, so I told her they were on the list. She proceeded to tell me that they are only taking people with my plan if they are referred to by a friend.
So I was out of luck! What the heck is wrong with my plan? I have great insurance thru the U. Seems like a snooty place to me and a horrible way to handle potential clients.

As soon as I met Dr. Norsted and his passion for what he does i knew there was none better. I live in Las Vegas but still travel back home to the farm regularly. I asked Dr. Norsted how much longer he would practice and like all the greats, it was as if the question did not make sense. why stop doing something you are not only great and the one of the best at but also love doing.

When I moved here from another state I was faced with the usual Urgent Four Things You Need: A doctor, a dentist, a hair cutter and an honest garage. My sister recommended Northview and Dr. Johnson, and the transition was seamless, painless and perfect in every way. The clinic is attractive, the staff is friendly and professional, and Dr. Johnson couldn't be better even if he could use a magic wand instead of drills and x-rays. (If you're wondering - yes, I found the other three as well. Score!)

I've been coming here since I first got teeth. I love my dentist! All of them here are amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and despite having a massive amount of patients they always seem to remember you. Maybe they secretly take notes! This extends to the dental assistants too. They are all so incredibly friendly. I don't dread going to visit my dentist like most people do. And their office is REALLY nice. Comfortable to wait in.
