I have provided counseling and psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families in Syracuse, New York and the surrounding area for over thirty years. I have worked with people of all ages from different ethnic groups, religious affiliations, cultural experiences, sexual orientations, professional and career fields, and educational backgrounds.

Many of the people I have worked with have had some previous counseling experience, some which they have deemed helpful and others not so much. Often I am asked what factors contribute to a successful counseling experience.
Services
I received both my doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision (1988) and my Masters in Counseling and Guidance (1984) from Syracuse University. I have been an adjunct professor within the counseling department at Syracuse University, teaching a variety of doctoral and master level courses since 1989.

Most likely an overwhelming number of names of providers, maybe some of the services they offer, and issues that they may work with. However, beyond this very little is offered to assist a potential patient in making an informed decision about what kind of therapy they need, what kind of therapist best suits them, and their particular situation.
T he previous section spoke to my underlying philosophical concepts of counseling and psychotherapy. The following speaks briefly to the individual, couples, and family therapy services that I provide.

People tend to seek out individual counseling for one of two basic reasons; (1) they are unhappy with some aspect of their life and want to change or (2) they are relatively happy with their life and are looking for more personal growth or greater fulfillment in life. Most people who come to individual counseling come because they are typically unhappy about some aspect of their life and would like things to be different.
I really enjoy providing clinical supervision services. I have had the great pleasure of supervising graduate students at Syracuse University in the Counseling and Human Services department, school counselors in many school districts in central new york, and psychotherapists from different theoretical backgrounds over the years.
