In the state of Florida, shoplifting is referred to as retail theft and is punishable by serious fines and heavy consequences if a person is convicted. In addition, merchants are permitted to sue adult shoplifters, or the parents of shoplifters, in civil court for court expenses, attorney fees, and up to triple the amount of the actual damages sustained.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement recently announced that overall crime in Tampa Bay-Hillsborough County increased 1.1% in 2011, and the specific offenses of robbery, burglary and larceny increased throughout the county. There were 2,002 robberies, 2,683 aggravated assault charges and 5,141 burglaries in 2011 alone, and law enforcement officers are continually taking actions to track down and prosecute those who commit theft crimes.
Strong armed robbery differs from armed robbery in that alleged theft was done with violence, threats or force but without the use of a deadly weapon. It is considered a serious theft crime and will be vigorously prosecuted. Having a lawyer work through the insurance system is a benefit when there is a Personal Injury. My no fault head on collision took a long time, but I did not have to go back and forth and consume myself with insurance or medical bills. It is difficult enough just to get better and deal with appointments. Jason Bard represented me for my unlawful dui conviction. He got my sentence reduced to not reckless but careless and other collateral charges dropped as well. Would definitely recommend him, love that I could text him whenever and I could always get in touch with him. I paid Jason & Brett $10,000 to BOTH represent me in my case. Their website even touted "you get 2 lawyers." Jason had to have heart surgery so was never seen or heard from again. Jason was supposed to be the litigator at trial. Brett did a fair job but it was obviously he was stumbling at trial. He missed presenting a couple of things. I have asked for $5,000 to be refunded me but Jason refuses. So I am now in court trying to get $5,000 refunded me. Not very ethical!

Greater Tampa Law is fantastic! I hired them to represent me for two traffic tickets. Throughout my case, I spoke with both lawyers (Brett and Jason). This rating is LONG overdue. Brett (Szematowicz) was incredibly professional. He answered all of the questions I had and was very honest about the process and possible outcomes of my case. I sent him the required documents, and he accompanied me to court. Within five minutes, we were out the door and MY CHARGE WAS FULLY DISMISSED (I didn't even have to pay a court fee!).
