To keep up with changing demands, Dr. Scott gradually transitioned Potomac Animal Hospital into a state of the art small animal practice with grooming and boarding. Dr. Scott purchased the property and house adjacent to the hospital building in 1993 making way for plans to expand the hospital and build a boarding kennel.

Our unique animal healthcare delivery system is designed to address the illness and disease of animals at multiple stages and to restore them to their highest potential for health and wellness.
Potomac Animal Hospital's entire staff is dedicated to making your and your pet's experience with us safe, efficient and enjoyable. We strive to offer your pet the highest quality of service along with staying up to date on all the latest technologies and treatments available. Our staff participates in many continuing education programs to always stay up to date on our knowledge.
We offer animal wellness examinations, vaccines and health screening tests tailored to the special needs of each pet. We also offer domestic and international health certificates. Appointments are required and are available daily with our veterinarians. Full dental services with performed with state of the art equipment, are provided by our veterinarians.
Our expanded facility was built with sanitation and safety being the top priorities. The bathing and grooming areas are joined by spacious, pass through dryers which have see-through doors so your pets can be monitored at all times. We perform routine bathing as well as professional grooming. Potomac Animal Hospital currently has two, full time professional groomers along with a full time bather.
Potomac Animal Hospital is equipped with separate, spacious boarding facilities for your cat or dog. All animals are examined by our Doctors and our veterinary technicians on a regular basis. Our canine visitors are exercised every 2-3 hours in our indoor runs. Meanwhile, our feline visitors are in a separate, quiet room in their individual condos.

Dogs were getting shots and wellness exams nails clipped dog food, benadryl,
By time I arrived home Maltese was vomiting and the terrier was falling over can't walk , he won't eat and I have no more money to take him back . I get him to drink some water but that is it.
The doctor was good and the people were good. Had to wait outside till someone came to get us.
I wonder if something was wrong with one of the thre vaccines, or more than one .

I have been taking my dogs here for almost 20 years. From new puppy vaccinations to, sadly, permanent rest, and everything in between, I have anyways received excellent personalized service. I like being able to take my dogs to the same place for boarding, grooming, and wellness; its so much less stressful on my dogs when they are familiar with the facility. They also have everything I need for my dogs including a large selection of food, lots of different toys and treats and grooming products!

We've been taking our cats and dog here for many years, from kittens/puppy thru geriatric, and even end of life for 2 cats. They've seen us through regular care, minor and serious illnesses, and dental care. They are always kind, caring, and spend the time to explain the options for the care your pet needs. Highly recommend.

Worse front desk / customer service experience. Made appointment with Dr. Scott, then they call last min to inform me of change. They never explained (initially) that the doctor will not be available, while examining the dog. Only post examination discussions will be allowed. Staff was unwilling or / and unable to articulate how the process works and very insulting. Until frontdesk gets their act together, suggest finding another vet. Specially when front desk tells you "maybe you should find another vet".
