Ellina
Ellina arrived on the Aspen scene in 2009 serving New Italian-American contemporary cuisine creatively crafted by Chef Diaz, in the heart of Aspen, Colorado. Quickly gaining accolades from locals and visiting guests as one of Aspen's best restaurants, Ellina's cozy and intimate dining room and bar area vibrate with energy at this popular downtown Aspen spot.

Our food is matched by our stellar wine list, curated by sommelier/owner, Jill Carnevale. With over 1500 wines, we'd love to help you find the perfect bottle for your evening. At the current time, Pitkin County health order requires all guests to wear a mask in the dining room until seated at the table, and whenever moving about the common space in the restaurant.
Services
Chef Diaz's culinary career began in his grandmother's kitchen in Puerto Vallarta - a place he still draws inspiration from and pays homage to in his cooking. A master of contmeporary Italian cuisine, the influnce of Mexico is never too far in the background. Come experience Chef Diaz's exciting flavors!
Ellina is located at 430 E. Hyman Avenue in downtown Aspen, Colorado on the Hyman Avenue walking mall, a few steps West of Galena Street. The bus drops off at Rubey Park Transit Center and Ellina Restaurant + Bar is 2.5 blocks Northeast at 430 E. Hyman Ave. For the month of June, we will be open 6 nights a week, closed Sundays, and open 7 nights a week for the remainder of the summer.

Perhaps 3.5 stars was more appropriate. Fine dining experience, prices, portions, presentations but with mediocre taste entrees & pastas. dishes were creative/bit fusion, nicely presented, nice textures, but lack substance. Our bolognese tagliatelle was at most average, saucy , bland in taste etc (i expect bologna Italy level homemade pasta standard),given it is marketed as a fine dining Italian place.
Also I tasted bit of unfreshness in my scallops. the place was small so the waitress was eager to give us the check (although she was nice) - without us asking. Fairly disappointed for the prices

Very nice underground cave like restaurant with stone walls and nice decor.
I had the braised artichoke heart, it was ok nothing out of the ordinary. I also had the chicken Milanese that slightly over cooked but still decent.
My wife had the mushroom ravioli and they were great.
Our server was ok, we felt rushed a bit but service was good.

Look at this dm the owner of Ellina sent me. Way to prove my point Jill! The fact that you felt the need to message me on Yelp calling me a Karen because YOU were rude just really proves my point that you shouldn't be running a customer facing business. To say I have anger issues when I'm not the one who messaged a stranger on yelp because I didn't like the review they left me is laughable. Honestly don't want to stoop to your level of name calling so I'll just leave you with a piece of advise - dissolve and franchise a McDonald's

Our group had the croutons appetizer followed by bolognese, short ribs and tuna. It was all
delicious but the environment was too strained. We enjoy delicious food and effortless service.

Super cute location with a gorgeous, yet cozy bar. We shared all the pastas. All outstanding. The chicken Milanese was also delicious. Great wine list but all very expensive. Not many mid priced/affordable which would have been fine except we had a large party.
Also, our service was poor in my opinion. Our server was kind of rude. That's the reason for the 4 stars.

We came here for dinner over Labor Day weekend and throughly enjoyed our experience! Our waiter, Martin, was so kind and helpful. He gave us great recommendations about food and beverages, but also about things to see in the city. The food was delicious. We ordered the Bolognese, the short ribs, the pepper fettuccine, the calamari and the ceviche. Their drinks are also very good!! Check this place out if you're ever in Aspen.

Our first experience at Ellina was great - we sat outside on the patio across from the restaurant and it was a lovely setting. The cocktails were great - very unique options and creatively presented. The halibut ceviche was our favorite dish of the night - we could have had two. Salad was a little soggy but the flavor was still good. Salmon entree was excellent - perfectly cooked. The carne asada taco was ok - we're Mexican food aficionados and this didn't stack up (perhaps too Americanized). The service was excellent - the hostess was a bit chilly but the server and owner were friendly

Absolutely LOVE this place! Never had a bad experience here. Best dishes include short rib & fettuccini. Good spot for date night, family gathering, or just a cool atmosphere with friends!

I think the owner of this restaurant doesn't read all the other reviews about her attitude and that of her hostess Courtney. Let's be clear with facts.

1. We arrived at 6:28pm
2. We waited in line as the hostess talked to a group of gentleman who had already been seated much before.
3. There were two other groups ahead of us to check in and they all mentioned how unprofessional it was that the hostess was in ignoring us.
4. When we checked in Courtney said we were late which we simply responded we were waiting in-line. We also showed her the email confirmed by her and the Ritz the reservation

The food is phenomenal. Everything I get I love. This place is impossible to get into for a reason, it's constantly full but never understaffed. I absolutely love it.

Ellina is by far my favorite restaurant in Aspen! The most recent visit was my second time and it exceeded my expectations. It was raining and we had a reservation to sit outside. They were packed and asked if we minded eating at the bar. Im so glad we did! The bartender Willie made it an unforgettable and fun experience.
Both times we have ordered a variety of fish, pasta and tacos. All have been amazing and you can’t go wrong. My favorite so far was the black pepper fettuccini.
It’s hard to find a restaurant with a good atmosphere, and excellent food and service but Ellina has it all! Can’t

High class and quality, yet not pretentious. Fabulous food, and an epic wine list. I love eating in the dining room in the winter; super cozy and high energy. But the bar is not to be missed either. Cocktails are excellent - well made and they don't skimp on the booze. And I love dining at the bar; it's great for a full meal or just for a drink. In good weather, the patio is epic. The owner is so much fun and will pick you out a great bottle to go with your dinner.

We had family in town visiting, and after countless dining experiences in Aspen over the years, Ellina has been their favorite restaurant by far. The menu is perfect if you have a table of varied palates, because while Ellina boasts mostly Italian cuisine, there are Mexican and Asian influences throughout the menu, so there is something for everyone. The tacos are the best in town, the tuna poke bowl might be one of the best dishes in Aspen, the short ribs are melt in your mouth insanity, and the black pepper fettucine seems sent straight from heaven. If I had to change one thing, it would be

Had a wonderful birthday dinner at Ellina. Made reservations and they were able to sit us outside on the patio per our request. The food was phenomenal. The calamari was one of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend the tacos (pork belly and fish). Our mains were terrific. The braised short rib melted in my mouth. Our server Tia was also friendly and helpful. Would 100% eat at Ellina again.

Terrible
Unfriendly, actually hostile service. Overpriced so-so food. Not worth it. No outdoor heaters where we sat. Many other better choices in town. Cannot recommend.

Ellina is a great place! I loved everything about this restaurant- very upscale and cozy even in the outdoors with amazing food.

Started the evening with cocktails - theh are amazing!!! Ordered a bunch of things for starters like the braised artichoke, fritters (I think) and tacos ( halibut and pork belly tacos were excellent, very flavourful). For mains, I got the shrimp pasta that had crumbled croutons, definitely a new take on pasta. The only dish we were disappointed in was the chicken Milanese.. it was very oil and had no flavours at all! Just plain soggy oily sandwich. The desserts were

If you’re reading a bad review ignore it! This was one of the best meals I’ve ever had, and I come from Manhattan. Amazing service and each dish just got better and better. Outstanding drinks as well. Very pricey as we had to order from a prefixed menu which out bill came to $450 for two after drinks and tip, but worth every penny honestly. Almost went back again the next night! If it wasn’t for the prefixed we would have! Hoping next time we can order freely!

This place wasn't very good. Definitely don't get any of their "homemade" pasta. It was annoyingly undercooked.

In the summer if you aren't sitting outside you're pretty much ignored. We had to wave our waitress down for more bread and to fill our waters.

For what it is, it's not that great.

Really great meal, the pastas were fantastic. I highly recommend the cavatelli dish and mushroom ravioli, both were superb. The calamari and artichoke appetizers were also really really great. Didn’t have a bad item and service was good.
