Services
Funeral homes in Vernon stretch back to 1888. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Cunningham owned and operated a furniture and coffin store. Later they went into partnership with T.J. Youngblood and opened the Youngblood and Underwood Funeral Home. After the death of Mr. Youngblood the funeral home name was changed to Underwood Funeral Home.
Sullivan Funeral Home offers many different services. Our training and experience has prepared us to help and understand what a family faces when they have lost a loved one. We believe your service choice is a personal decision. At Sullivan Funeral Home we explain all the options available so that you may make your own informed decisions.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.
Wilbarger Memorial Park was developed in 1953 being the only perpetual care cemetery in the region and was acquired by brothers, James Sullivan and Charles Sullivan in the 1960's. When first established there were five original gardens, Babyland, Garden of Devotion, Good Shepherd, The Last Supper, Mausoleum Garden and the Mausoleum.
