This program is designed to primarily do one thing, and that is to get you more proficient with your knives not only in employing them, but also in the core skills needed such as; concealment, carrying and drawing methods, etc.

Krav Maga means Contact Combat in Hebrew, and was originally developed in the late 1940's by Imrich "Imi" Lichtenfeld (Immi Sde-Or), Chief Instructor for hand-to-hand combat and combat fitness training for the Israeli Defense Forces, and grew out of an immediate need for the newly independent State of Israel to defend its borders against neighboring Arab countries.

I am a student in the Krav Maga classes and also took the recent Knife Combatives Seminar. Both experiences are incredible. Sean has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of self-defense as well as having a traditional martial-arts background. He is very thorough with his introduction to new techniques and has a great teaching philosophy.
We hope you find them useful and we do periodically add to this list. Aiki Productions; Video and audio production company which produces very informative and quality instructional DVD's and CD's covering a wide range of martial arts and self-defense related topics. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Shawn is a very knowledgable instructor. I've been around martial arts for a long time. He really knows a lot more than just Krav Maga. He's very passionate. He's been teaching me with very detailed and patient instruction. Everyone that I have interacted with there is very nice and helpful. I highly recommend Reno Krav Maga to anyone that wants to learn how to defend themselves or just get in shape.

Every once in a while you meet a working professional who is truly and deeply passionate about their profession, Shawn is one of these individuals. I have been training with Shawn for a year now, and he has an amazing attention to detail, body mechanics, and technique. He always keeps class fresh, dynamic, and moving. Shawn has nearly 40 years of martial arts experience, he served at a sheriff deputy for about eight years he also was a bouncer in the gentleman’s clubs here in Reno for several years, so he has a wealth of first hand real world experience in self defense, which he freely shares

Visiting from out of town and they allowed a drop in visit for $20. They don't have levels or belts...but use a colored chevron system instead. They also don't have split classes for the "levels". Not an alliance or worldwide school, but independent. A quick warm up. And then class focused on front kick reps and then finished with three pressure drills. Thanks for letting me drop in and for the instruction :)

Note to those trying to find them.....they are located in Gracie and on have their own sign out front.

It's unfortunate that people are willing to go out of their way and write a potentially detrimental review for a business based on a brief inquiry only, not on using the service provided.

I have been attending classes with Shawn for about a month and a half now and I feel as though I have learned an exceptional amount. Shawn comes with his quirks, that is true, but there is no doubt that he is experienced and has a lot to offer in the realm of self-defense. Do not let those that have failed to attend his classes dissuade you from learning how to protect yourself.

I would highly suggest

The owner lacked business etiquette. He cursed a lot in our first meeting, it was unfortunate. He talked badly about other Krav Maga businesses in town and must have told me how honest he was and how he'll never cheat me, a dozen times. His prices are higher than anyone elses even compared to Southern California. I will not be back.

Not sure if the instructors actually view their website or update it however, the schedule that is posted online is slightly the opposite of what is posted on the front door of their Dojo. Therefore for those of you who live far away and decided to not call and just show up for a combat fitness class but dumbfounded to find out that there's only Taekwondo private lessons held at that time then it's okay to blame the website for false information.

My daughter and I attended a couple of private lessons before she went off to college. We learned some really valuable self defense techniques and had lots of practice time with the techniques. She really enjoyed it and looks forward to attending classes when she returns home from college on breaks.
