Highland Road Animal Hospital has been providing veterinary services to Baton Rouge for over 40 years and has the remarkable accomplishment of having been an AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) hospital for nearly 30 consecutive years! Dr. Randy Thayer opened the hospital in 1968 to offer quality care to the pets of the Highland Road and Kenilworth areas.

I feel extremely fortunate to wake up each morning and know that when I go into work, I will be doing something that I truly love. I have always loved working with animals, and with each passing day I become more excited and inspired by veterinary medicine. Practicing at Highland Road Animal Hospital is truly my dream job as I am a native of South Baton Rouge and I have always wanted to raise my family in this area.
We relocated down the hill from our former site on historic Highland Road, just past the two gorgeous live oaks. We incorporated "green" building techniques during the construction, including a metal lifetime roof which reflects heat to make cooling easier. Our x-rays are all digital, thus reducing chemicals in our environment.
I can't say enough great things about HRAH. We had a situation with our dog, Jetta who ate a chicken bone. Dr. Godial was awesome, she performed surgery on her to remove the chicken bone. Dr. Godial & staff were so patient and warm to make sure our Jetta was all better. To top it off all this happened right before they were about to close for the weekend.

We are not regulars at HRAH, but we couldn't have been treated with more kindness or comparison. We evacuated Ida and boarded our cat with them. They provided us with peace of mind knowing she was being well cared for and safe, we even got to visit with her at our convenience. When power was restored to our home we were ready to go home and HRAH made special arrangements for us to pick up our cat outside of regular business hours. Thank you HRAH, thank you!

Highland Road Animal Hospital cared for Skippy, our Chihuahua for the last 6 years of his life. They provided great vet service especially as old-age began to impact his health. Boarding was easy and they're great about any special food requests. Finally, they were compassionate when it was time for Skippy to pass away.

The clinic and veterinarians are nice, but the prices are extremely high. In my experience you can expect to pay nearly double what other vets charge. This includes prescriptions.
I don’t think the additional cost is linked to improved animal care, but in their quite impressive facility and waiting room. If that’s valuable to you, you’ll be very satisfied. The veterinarian skill and care appears equivalent to other vets in the area.

Great people and great care. This is our regular vet but one time I sent my dog for play care and for a checkup during the day. The vet himself called me after her checkup and shots to give me a run down of everything that happened and how she's doing really well. You can really tell they care about their patients, both human and not. I also find them to be the most reasonably prices. No strange fees or expensive procedures. They are very upfront about the cost of everything.
