The Healthcare Partnership at The University of Arizona offers accredited evidence-based continuing education/certification programs for the treatment of Nicotine Addiction. Certification earned by Health and Human Service providers representing National health care organizations: Nurses, Pharmacists, Medical Assistants, Physicians, Respiratory Therapists, etc.

Programs offered through The University are based on the recommendations of the US Public Health Service Clinical Practice Guideline: Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence, along with other evidence-based recommendations of authoritative groups in the field of the treatment of nicotine addiction. Courses are taught by University of Arizona faculty as well as by certified instructors located throughout the United States.
Services
The University of Arizona HealthCare Partnership (HCP) is a nationally accredited continuing education/certification program that researches, writes, and teaches evidence-based nicotine addiction interventions to point-of-care providers and health influencers.

By attending a Nicotine Dependence Treatment Continuing Education/Certification program, candidates learn and practice the skills and knowledge to effectively deliver brief and intensive interventions to assist commercial tobacco users to achieve lifelong abstinence from nicotine products.
Using a tiered-level model, our Continuing Education/Certification accredited courses teach the competencies necessary to deliver evidence-based brief and intensive interventions to point-of-care providers. Providers learn and practice methods and techniques to prevent and/or to treat the addiction to nicotine products.
This accredited Continuing Education Program aims to equip health and human service providers with the basic knowledge and skills specific to evidence-based practices for individuals who present with tobacco use disorder. The program emphasizes early detection, intervention, and treatment of tobacco use disorder at a clinical, community, and systems level.
It follows a self-paced case study instructional design. The course provides an in-depth examination of the prevention, intervention and treatment of nicotine addiction. Treatment Specialist candidates explore the addictive nature of nicotine products and the effectiveness of intensive interventions.
Master Facilitators are an elite group of Certified Instructors of the Nicotine Dependence Treatment Continuing Education Programs. Master Facilitators have successfully completed a broad range of HealthCare Partnership courses.

Additionally, they have instructed numerous courses, consistently demonstrating the professional skills, knowledge and training to provide/teach evidence-based interventions for nicotine addiction across a range of intensities.When the HealthCare Partnership receives a request for a Continuing Education/Certification program that faculty are unable to address, a referral is initiated to a Master Facilitator located in the requestors area.
