For the obvious and sad reasons of the business, I have had to lean on David and his team to handle the matters of both my Father's passing in 2013 as well as my Mother's passing just two months ago. I couldn't be more pleased with the professionalism, compassion, follow through, and care delivered in such a tough time as this, the post death logistics of a loved one.

The passing of my sister Margaretha was a terrible loss to family and friends. We appreciate the great care and consideration that David and everyone at the Dettling Funeral Home showed to us. The funeral was beautiful and handled with great dignity. It was a comfort to my sister's husband, who is in a care facilty, to attend the funeral with family and friends and be together with my sister one last time. The the thoughtfulness of everyone at the Dettling Funeral Home will be remembered and appreciated.

The Dettling family treated us like family during the most horrible time of our lives when my son was killed. I did not have to worry about any step in the funeral process and was able to simply be there for my family and myself. There are few family-owned funeral homes in Houston left. The personalized attention Dettling Funeral Home provides is due to their name being on the front door. We are thankful.
Additionally, Dettling Funeral Home has a partnership with a crematorium that provided the quickest turnaround for the service.

David Dettling and staff did an outstand job of working with another funeral home to transfer my mother's remains to his facility for final internment with my deceased father at the VA National Cemetery in Houston. The outstanding service and compassion shown continued as arrangements were made for church services and logistics associated with the requirements of internment at the National Cemetery. I would highly recommend David and his staff for handling funeral arrangements for your loved ones.

Ignores COVID precautions
We were there for a wake of a colleague last week. It was not a good experience.
The viewing room for this wake was packed! You couldn't find 16 inches of space between anyone in the crowd and this is during the COVID pandemic. To be fair, they did announce there were different viewing rooms that had broadcasted streams of this wake upstairs, but the problem is that nobody enforced the distancing rules and thereby creating a super-spreader event.
We are not sure how many masked partakers came down with the disease, but the recklessness of the management put a few

My sister and I were beyond pleased and amazed with the kindness, honesty, and attention to detail from Mr. Dettling. Although it was a funeral for our father, it was stress-free. You know the minute you walk through their doors that this is more than a numbers game like big corporations - you are treated with respect and compassion and there is no upselling. That is so important when making plans during times of grief and emotion. We are very thankful to have Dettling Funeral Home in Houston.

Dettling Funeral Home exceeded my expectations as the place to lay my father to rest. David Dettling was so compassionate and caring in every aspect of his funeral. He walked us through the process of his cremation and service and made a very difficult time easier to deal with. The funeral home was a beautiful place and we had it entirely to ourselves the day of the service. I cannot tell you how happy we were with their services. My father was truly honored by Dettling Funeral Home.
