Services
Owner & sole trainer for 13 Strikes Boxing & Fitness, Kevin Gerstel has years of experience as both a trainer and competitive amateur boxer, as well as a formal education & respected certification in the field of exercise science. Kevin received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine from Merrimack College in 2003, with a concentration in Exercise Physiology.
Learning how to box enhances one's ability to better absorb punches, avoid punches through practical defensive maneuvers, and counter-punch with speed & power. These skills can often intimidate thugs instantly, and end unavoidable physical altercations quickly & efficiently. Grappling, submission holds, and ground-fighting are all valuable skills.
In-home training is another option for clients of 13 Strikes. Whether for convenience, complete privacy, or to save time for clients by eliminating commute, in-home training is a popular choice for many clients. Clients may also choose to receive training at outdoor sites or at select fitness clubs in some cases.
PRIVATE SESSION SHARING - Clients who share private sessions with family or friends can expect significant savings per person. Private groups can include anywhere from 2-5 people. These group sessions can be used for boxing training by appointment. The more people involved in the private sessions, the cheaper the cost per person.
Below are rounds 1, 2, & 3 of instructor Kevin Gerstel's match against Luis Castillo for the 2010 New Englands Novice Finals at 178lb, in Billerica, MA. Below are numerous assorted clips of sparring & mittwork through the years between the instructor and various students at our previous locations withMMA Judo Center, before having our current access to Ramalho's West End Gym, which is a fully equipped boxing gym with a ring, in Lowell, MA.

I am just about done my first "hell month" with Kevin, the boxing instructor at Meara's Martial Arts/13 Strikes and I couldn't be happier. I have already lost 10lbs. Kevin is a great trainer, knows his stuff, and is able to push me so I get the most out of myself. He genuinely seems to care about me and wants to see me reach my goals. I am so happy with the results I just signed up to do another "hell month". If you are looking for a trainer call Kevin!!

Was a bit out of shape and knew I needed a trainer to help me make a commitment to working out on a regular basis. Met with a few different organizations and decided to sign up for a 'Hell Month' with Kevin at 13 Strikes. Its been great. We've been meeting four days a week, alternating between boxing and weight lifting. The personal training classes are held in a private studio (Meara's Martial Arts, right next to Planet Fitness). One great thing is that I end up traveling occasionally for work and Kevin has been able to be flexible on the dates and times.
