Services
At PrairieCare our mission is to provide each individual patient the psychiatric care they truly need. PrairieCare has been providing specialized psychiatric services for all ages in the Twin Cities since 2005. PrairieCare is a physician-owned and operated psychiatric healthcare system, dedicated to providing mental healthcare for all. With a robust benefits package, career advancement opportunities, and great workplace culture, we value our employees and the work they do each day for our patients and families.

Loved my psychiatrist, but after losing insurance and having a few obstacles in my way, I had to stop taking my meds. Needed advice on withdrawal symptoms and I got a very cold response from the nurse of my psychiatrist. I need help. I'm screaming for help and I get a cold shoulder. She made an already stressful situation for myself worse when I thought they would be the only ones who could support me. Yeah, I have a wealth of issues and thank you for making it more apparent that Im just not worth the effort.

First of all, Prairie Care is a great facility that saved my life, IOP is worth the time and money, and so is the therapy. However some staff- especially nurse practitioners could try to be more compassionate and understanding.

They withheld fulfilling a prescription for medication to help with depression for someone who was suicidal because of an outstanding payment of just $70. Who does that? This is life threatening. Is that even legal? I can't be more angry about this and hope that is not their standard practice.

STAY FAR AWAY!! Receptionists are ALWAYS rude and act like the patients are inconveniencing them or bothering when you call. Psychiatrist consistently late for their appointments, even up to 35mins late. Called the clinic appt was not canceled but receptionist could do nothing but reschedule me and charge me for a late cancellation fee. No return phone calls when asked for one. Prescriptions not sent to pharmacy when told they would. Then you have to call the clinic to see if they sent them in however never get a return call letting you know they sent in the prescription. VERY DISORGANIZED AND

I’m honestly sad to see such negative reviews about this place. I really appreciated my time here and I believe the staff worked so hard with everyone individually to meet their own needs. I was in the IOP program upstairs and I would recommend that to ANYONE. Thank you Prarie Care for everything you’ve done for me and my recovery.

The providers our family has seen (Jennifer Keehn and Laura Mathys) have been wonderful and attentive. Video visits during Covd-19 helped ensure continuing care during especially difficult times.

As a patient who personally went to PrairieCare I have to say that this is a really nice establishment and the food is so good anyways due to Covid I did miss out on a couple of things like being able to see my friends or my boyfriend and I also missed out on having my parents get to bring me food or like stuff like that that I would like but other than that this is a pretty good place :) oh and the staff is super nice :)

Prairie care is quite possibly the worst place you can place your child. The management consists of power driven individuals who do not care about the patients. Staff moral is low as management is threatening. One of the nurses was shopping for lingerie in front of the kids! The isolation rooms are enforced, which is barbaric. The kids are given coloring books or sent to their rooms in isolation several times a day. What a terrible place!

My middle school aged son is going here he likes it a lot. The care he has been receiving had made a positive change in his life. I like the doctors and appreciate what they have done to help him. It is it kind of expensive but i think everything is now. I wish that they would send me text messages when they cancel his appointments like they do with appointment reminders. It is 2020 I don't use voicemail because it is the future we don't have flying cars but we do have text messages don't waste my time making me go through voicemail. Thanks

Sue Buelow should not be providing any type of medical advice, care or medication. It seems like she is overly medicated herself, she is a very strange person. She does not listen to you as a patient and frankly seems unstable and very socially inept. I asked to switch to a different provider, they refused. Kathy Conery, the Operations Director is awful as well, they would rather have you leave the establishment apparently than listen their patients. I took my records and will never go back to this place, I saw a new provider today and they did tell me that they have heard bad things about PrairieCare

I am so disappointed in the treatment I’ve personally experienced here.
Susan Buelow does not have any empathy for her patients. I went to her on Tuesday for my second visit. I shared feelings about how I feel alone and suicidal. She didn’t even acknowledge those statements I shared. Instead she went on to ask a question about medication or something without addressing the fact that I shared very sensitive personal details.
This is my second and last visit to prairie care as they do not have the necessary personnel required to operate a mental health facility.
I would recommend not going

This place is actual hell on earth. I went here because my parents were worried about me and my brothers safety because I had shown i wasn’t safe. My doctor didn’t do much, she only prescribed Clonidine for me, the nurses brains were too little and gave me Risperdal instead. I asked my doctor how it happened, she said she didn’t know how, and she didn’t prescribe Risperdal. However she knows my past doctor mixed Adderall and Zoloft and lexapro together for me, I call it the mixture for disaster, those three don’t go together. My doctor refuses to think about how dangerous it is to give

I also had a recent jaw-dropping horrible experience with this facility. We scheduled an appointment, flew down from 10 hours away for the appointment. When we arrived, we were told we missed the appointment (we didn't) and that the person who did the assessments was gone for the day. I was then given number after number after number of people who were supposed to help, but the buck just kept getting passed around. When the person who finally came back to do our assessment from another facility, she was basically a teenager who clearly had very little experience in anything. Given our

If I can give this place a 0, I would! The NP I saw her name was Sue and she was just absolutely horrible. Instead of being welcoming and warm like most mental health providers, she treated me like I was wasting her time. She interrogated me like I was being booked for jail and every time I would tell her something, she'd respond with "I quite not understand what you mean.." and I kept a tally on how many times she said it during the appointment and it was five times.

Parents do not send your children here. This is a jail for children. I repeat jail for children. I called to get the names and titles for the treatment team for my son and they refused to give me last names. They refuse to release my son until his hold is up. I will never sign for him to receive any treatment again.

As a parent who read the awful reviews and was then sent into a state of panic, I feel I need to assuage some fears for those who may be in that very position right now. My child was already being checked in at PrairieCare's Brooklyn Park location (emergency situation) when I looked the company up, and I hate to admit, those reviews nearly made me call for a transfer before even meeting a doctor. I encourage every parent reading this to consider our experience among the rest before you panic.

From the very beginning of this traumatizing journey, we were allowed access to our child via phone

I will not go into too much detail but I literally had to ask the same question to four different employees regarding my concern of payment. They did not "get back to me" with the answer until AFTER my session. I feel taken advantage of, not viewed as a patient all for the sake of money. Please save your time and seek help elsewhere.

I honestly have never received worse mental health treatment. All I need is one medication prescribed for one condition that's worked well for me for years. My previous psychiatrist retired, so I found a doctor here who was available. I have never been treated with less respect. She rolls her eyes, tries to convince me to change medication even though it's working completely fine, and treats me like I'm a child. There is nothing wrong with having mental illness, but if you go to Prairiecare, be prepared to feel ashamed about it.

Wow. Not surprised at all to see only one star previous reviews for PriarieCare Corp. Well deserved. I'd say they should be renamed PrairieDontCare!

Watch out now, for their money grubbing tentacles have even reached California. PrairieDontCare acquired a small mental health non-profit institution with top notch mental health providers in the SF bay area in California. Now they have started to re-negotiate rates with all the insurance providers.

We have one of the best PPO insurances (Anthem Blue Cross) and yet these folks cannot find a decent middle ground. It has been weeks my child has

Jaw dropping horrible experience.

Without giving details:

Initially I was hopeful and open that good things would result. Boy was I wrong, this outtake program actually made things worse. The therapist was extremely unprofessional, passive aggressive toward the parents and had high school like attitude. I'm wondering if this therapist was even licensed. I'm still debating on filing a formal complaint through the state. My child ended the program with now a list full of excuses for the many long years worth of bad behavior that only grew worse in time.

I won't post any specific, since it all pertains to the mental health of my child. I will just say that, in our experience, the well-being of the child is not one of their top priorities. I would strongly advise against taking your child to PrairieCare.
