In 1903, Anna Quale Fergstad gathered together several Norwegian women to form a literary club. Near the end of that year, Mrs. Fergstad expressed her desire for the club to take up charitable work of some sort.
Thinking of a vivid picture of the snug little huts along the coast of Norway that sheltered the wives of fishermen who had lost their lives at sea, she realized that, in America, there were many older people without family or friends to care for them. They were in need of some shelter and care.

My sister was placed here in her final days of fighting cancer. The nurses were horrible and would withhold medicine from her. She had developed fistulas on her back and would ooze out her back. They should have been kept covered but it was "too much work" for the staff so they would take off the covering and let the fistulas drain down her back. This caused horrible rashes and was horribly uncomfortable for my sister.
When I moved her back to the hospital I called to let them know that I would be back to clean out her room that night as the doctors said she couldn't return there. They informed

We had a bad experience at Lyngblomsten for my mother. Well intentioned - but poorly staffed and trained. My mother had a heart attack while there/ pressed nurse button and no one came! She had to call me at home and ask me to call an ambulance!! This happened again a week later when forced to take my mother back due to lack of beds available in St. Paul. I was there/ saw nurses ignore call button because they were “ charting.” When confronted by me they said they had 10 minutes to response to a patient buzzer!
Evenings especially bad as not staffed. We took her out. It is not a place for

Oh my gosh how this place has changed since I was a kid. Esthetically it was a gorgeous piece of property that has certain charms and i doubt shed turn down an offer of turn down service. Usually its just hey, turn that down were trying to catch up, they've been a socializing since like 10 this morning.

Lyngblomsten literally saved my mother's life. She was frail, weak, could barely walk and was depressed before we brought her here. She's been here for 8 months now and all I have is praise for this facility. I live in DC so I'm not local but I have had multiple interactions with my mom's social worker, head nurse, floor nurses and the business office and they've been nothing short of responsive, kind and most of all, so caring. My mother has flourished, walks daily and last but not least, she is extremely happy. All she talks about when I call is how loved she feels by

Lyngblomsten Care Center is a wonderful care facility. There is a caring atmosphere that is conveyed through the staff, the volunteers and the residents themselves. My Mom spent her final six months of life at Lyngblomsten and they gave her exemplary care. I have spent the past 10 years visiting care facilities in-depth for the care needs of my parents. Some may look shiny and new and seem to provide good care. That isn't necessarily true. Lyngblomsten delivers on the best care possible. It is an older facility --- don't that dissuade you from the excellent organization and efficiency

Horrible customer service. There were med errors, some of the nurses on staff had major attitudes. Overall a general lack of care and negligence. They also did not give a diabetic diet which was needed. I can't imagine what happens for those who are speaking impaired or elderly and don't know the health care system.
