It's a long way from Tamil Nadu, located on the southern tip of the Indian peninsula, to Anna Maria Island, he found his way here. Since he had experience in the hotel and restaurant business in Colorado, opening a restaurant on Island was the choice. The concept was to design a multi-cuisine restaurant offering authentic Indian dishes along with American dishes.
Delicious food, fresh & healthy, great flavor & spice, reasonable prices, and friendly service - what more do you need? Everything was truly delicious: samosas, masala dosa (huge!), butter chicken with a mango chutney side order, and the mint lemon refresher. Looking forward to next time! Wonderful people and fantastic food, it authentic and worth checking out.

My husband is a big fan of Indian cuisine. We were visiting on vacation and I am always up for trying a new place. We had the entire dining room to ourselves on a quiet Sunday afternoon. I believe the owner was the gentleman who took our order and served us.
I have been to a couple different restaurants that serve Indian, so I am by no means an expert. However in speaking with the owner, we learned that some of the things on the menu are from the southern part of India which is where he is from. He said that often other Indian restaurants won't offer some of their dishes.

On a island with limited ethnic food options, this place was a wonderful surprise. Truly delicious chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, and samosas. The chicken skewer was a dry disappointment but the rest more than made up for it. I even wanted to return two days later -- it was that good. Interior dining room was very clean and nice as well.

Butter chicken was delicious. My husband doesn't even like Indian cuisine but he enjoyed his meal from the Island Spice. They even offer the standard kids menu for picky eaters like my kid. Food was prepared quickly, packaged neatly and ready for pickup when promised. Would definitely eat here again!

So sad Expat Brits living here now after 20 years in NJ and we were excited to try our local curry house!
Onion bhaji's had so little onion and a corn dog thick coating. Naans small and look like Trader Joe's.
Korma bland and gloopy, tikka masala and vindaloo both just versions of tomato casserole. Ordered our vindaloo hot (as it should be) and it was ultra mild with a Bolognese flavor!
There were better US curry places in NJ and I'm sure there must be good ones near here.
Brits on vacay will not enjoy this version. Sorry island spice but glad to see you have other great reviews

This is hands down THE BEST Indian food stateside! We had a large group and tried several dishes. The Lamb Tikka Masala special was so tender and flavorful with the perfect amount of heat! I also loved the Dosas, perfect crep and flavor fillings. Don't pass up the Gobi Manchurian appetizer! My tastebuds are singing! I haven't had food this good since I was in India! This place is a must!

Disappointing! Everything was very bland and tasted the same. It didn't seem like they have the right oven for tandoori chicken or naan. Tandoori tasted like normal chicken with some seasoning. Fish curry tasted like defrosted blocks of fish in bland sauce, nothing else in it. Naan seemed like it was microwaved from a Trader Joe's bag. Very expensive for such bad food.

We ordered delivery from The Island Spice last night. It arrived very quickly and the temperature of the food was great! One order of chicken tikka masala and one order of chicken saag (both $14), the standard order for my wife and me from any Indian restaurant.
Our favorite Indian at home has a special chicken tikka masala on their menu which adds peppers and onions to the mix. It is my favorite around! We ordered twice while staying on AMI and enjoyed their food both times. I read the reviews and yes some said it wasn't "authentic" Indian. My family and I were expats in India and know that there is no "authentic" Indian food, rather a limitless series of regional cuisines.
Island Spice gave me Kerala impressions with their coconut curries and yellow daal, but certainly with an American flair. This is AMI after all not some major cosmopolitan center.
I was glad to have this as an option on the island and will certainly return whenever we are here.

We were so happy to find this place open on Christmas!
We ordered 8 main dishes, a bunch of soup and naan. Our order was ready and everything accounted for. Seems small, but a lot of places mess up big orders- but not island spice!
The vegetable samosas were amazing! The Dahl was probably our favorite, but all the vegetarian dishes we ordered were great.
I can't speak for the chicken dishes personally, but the meat eaters in our party loved the chicken tikka Masala.
They gave us a generous portion of sauces so check what they give before requesting extra!

Great food!!! We were in Ana María Island for a week.. we ordered some food for take out, delicious!! The CHICKEN MANCHURIAN spicy was great for appetizer.. lamb masala delicious and some different nans .. it was a special dinner during our vacations! The customer services was nice and efficient !! Not doubt we will go there again soon!
