The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) provides accreditation programs for vascular testing, echocardiography, nuclear/PET, MRI, diagnostic CT, dental CT, carotid stenting, vein treatment and management, cardiac electrophysiology and cardiovascular catheterization. The IAC incorporated all of its divisions into one IAC organization in 2008, but its history began more than 30 years ago with the inception of the first of the IAC accreditation divisions - the IAC Vascular Testing - formerly the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).

The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) accredits imaging facilities and hospitals specific to cardiovascular catheterization. IAC accreditation is a means by which facilities can evaluate and demonstrate the level of patient care they provide.
The IAC is a nonprofit organization in operation to evaluate and accredit facilities that provide diagnostic imaging and procedure-based modalities, thus improving the quality of patient care provided in private offices, clinics and hospitals where such services are performed.

As the IAC Research Program continues toward fulfilling its mission of Strengthening Accreditation Through Research has been realized in terms of several published manuscripts and abstracts. Accredited facilities, as well as all stakeholders within the medical community, are encouraged to review the research being put forth in the published abstracts and manuscripts section.
Over the past few years, several states have adopted payment policies for the reimbursement of Vascular Testing, Echocardiography, Nuclear/PET, MRI and CT/Dental procedures, requiring either credentialing of individuals performing examinations or accreditation of the facility.
