One of the nicest dining experiences on Long Island. The ownership and staff make you feel like you're at home. The food is consistently delicious. A real Gem!

Terrible customer service/wait staff/management
we attended Barney’s for a family brunch today. the waiter was incomprehensible, rude and disorganized. our table of 8 waited 1-1/2 hour for food to be brought. In the interim we had to chase the staff for drinks, which is terribly annoying. the other patrons were visibly annoyed as well. the bathrooms were not serviced and had no towels for drying hands. Restaurant owners: stop blaming inadequate service on Covid. enough already! if you cannot procure adequate and competent staff to service patrons, then limit your sittings to an amount that you

Small and cozy establishment with amazing food. The ambiance is nice, when you walk in there's a cozy bar and they have a beautiful fire place in the dining room. Everyone is happy to be there, and the energy in the room spreads a light buzz. I had the most delish tuna tartare appetizer. Beautiful presentation, the tuna was fresh and the coleslaw was crunchy, with a crisp toastada, it was perfection! Also we had the crab cake appetizer, served on field greens with a fresh and tangy dressing, perfectly paired with the crab cake and lemon caper emulsion. For our final appetizer we had the ricotta

Owner can't plan and doesn't do well with large parties. Doesn't plan staffing well, doesn't accommodate seating for large people, blames food quality on the customer, an hour and a half before orders were even taken, defends himself by saying the restaurant has been around for over 125 years and lack of staff. Party was still paid in full with no discount and owner's attempt on an apology was a 8" cake that no one ate nor wanted. Just wanted to leave. Such an embarrassment and waste of time and money.

Always a lovely experience. Cozy, romantic, rustic. Love the fireplace and private side room. The owner Michael is so nice. Food and staff are great. Brunch is delicious as well! Must gets: Hudson Valley foie gras, crab cakes, chicken paillard sandwich for brunch (huge!), bloody marys with bacon, LI Duck (and I love duck! The only other place I like duck from is Heirloom Tavern in Glen Head and Hunter in East Norwich.)

This is a wonderful restaurant with excepriinal food and even better service. The lack of parking is compensated by fast and efficient Valet service.

As good as it is as a restaurant, it is even better as a an event venue. Mike and his wife take a personal interest in ensuring their guests have the very best event. Their attention to detail and warm caring attitude alleviates a lot of the tensjon associated with plannung an event. They hosted my son's wedding and everyone who came marveled at the charm of the restaurant and the marvelous service.

Oh man. This was our go to for extra special dinners. We haven't been in awhile, and won't be back unless reviews shown more positive consistency. Food ok when for the cost it should be excellent. Service slow-however restaurants deserve some grace during this time of employee shortage. Our waiter did try and you could see he was busy but they needed more bus staff. The Pasta dish was over cooked with watery tasteless sauce and was sent back (which I never do). Halibut and Foie Gras overcooked. Bananas foster was actually served in a crepe, so not what was expected. A disappointing evening

I heard the owner likes to rip off professional musicians by substantially shorting them on agreed upon rates. If you are a musician, supporter of live music, or have a heart for musicians of all walks, please consider this. To the management, shame on you. Highly unproffessional.

Food was ehh. Service was mediocre. The live music is cool, but then I heard from their fantastic musician they don't pay the musicians their agreed rate. That's despicable, these musicians are struggling to find work and you rip them off? Never coming back to this establishment.

I heard the owner of this place is very stingy with the musical acts he hires. Over worked and under paid. Not only under paid but lies about how much they will be receiving. If management is that bad I’m sure the food is tasteless too.

After extensively searching for cozy romantic restaurants on Long Island, I decided to go with Barney's. The reviews weren't great on Yelp but they seemed much better on trip advisor and google. The place was off the beaten path, low ceilings, fire place and seemed different than the flashy places I've recently visited such as rare 650. I went on the website prior to our visit and noticed that Thursday night was a prix fixe menu. For $35 per person you can get a three course meal, so with only 3 stars, I figured I'd give this a shot. We arrived and instantly noticed some locals

I am very happy I got to work for this place. I went in twice and the staff does an amazing job, behind of the house and in front of the house. Tasted homemade pizza as family food, and if that was and indication of what food for costumers taste like, then this place is doing something right. Happy and friendly staff all around, really welcoming. Both nights I worked as a runner I could really tell everyone was on their top game, costumers seemed to be swiftly being taken care of, the pace in which they were being taking care of was just too smooth to compare to other places I've been/worked

New owner and Barney''s is revived!!!
Went for Christmas Eve. Prices Fix menu was very nice and good choices.
Pan seared fois gras appetizer was delicious. Creamy and fresh tasting.
Crispy skin salmon was cooked perfectly, served with asparagus, corn relish and a corn cake.
Rack of lamb cooked to a beautiful medium with a butternut purée and roasted brussel sprouts.
Star entree was the Long Island duck. Breast cooked medium melted in your mouth. Leg and thigh were delicious as well. I've had duck in dozens of restaurants and this was arguably the best I've had.

Had a wonderful time at Barney's. Jenny, our server was spot on and the owners were super friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and a nice menu assortment. The braised short ribs were delicious and the du I was perfectly cooked. Nice to go to a restaurant with a friendly atmosphere and tables spaced. Wine list was nice, perhaps add a few more reasonably priced wines to balance the list. Will definitely be back!

Intimate setting. Professional service. The key lime pie was the only disappointment -- very heavy, hard to insert a fork and no meringue. It is one of my father in law's favorite places to dine. Small space means it is often loud.

Really do not like to bring down a local place especially if they are friendly and the atmosphere is as cozy as Barneys is especially in colder months, but sadly the food has just gotten really bad. I haven't had a good meal there in a long time. The last time we were there, my friends husband had a piece of meat that he said tasted like it had gone bad, with it seeming to get less and less busy, you cannot help but wonder about turnover in general.

We used to go out to dinner with friends who loved it there and ate there at least once a week, even they don't go anymore. I really really

Barney's never disappoints. The duck is ALWAYS on point, as the Rack of Lamb. Beautiful cozy atmosphere, particularly on a cold winter night with the roaring, crackling fireplace going. Rick, the host, is a gem and brings a nice personal touch to the experience.

I hate to leave an unpleasant review because I have always loved Barneys. It is so close to home and in the winter, incredibly inviting with the warm fireplace crackling away. So I am chalking this up to what I hope was a bad night and adding an extra star.
Had this been a new restaurant I was not familiar with I would probably remove a star.
I had my favorite gnocchi appetizer, which fills my calorie quota for a week and it was good - not as spectacular as it used to be. The lamb was not cooked enough and then cooked too much when I asked for it to be cooked a little longer.
Unfortunately, our

Fortunately, the company was good for our group holiday party, because the restaurant was not.

One of our friends took the time and trouble to arrange the gathering and she was met with broken promises by the end of the evening. Appetizers were supposed to be included in the price, but were not. Drink costs were high. Quality of food continues to decline here. Even the pigs-in-blanket appetizers were cut in half. This place is clearly struggling.

Let's just say that our party paid $100 a head in cash for skimpy hors d'oeurves, an appetizer, main course, kind of skimpy dessert

I hate to slam local restaurants, but ate here tonite and while the atmosphere is charming, the food was just not good. The crab cake was fried and the type you get in a frozen section of the supermarket, the "organic" salmon (what does that mean?) did not taste fresh, the cod was ok but the string beans had no flavor and the rice was hard. Desserts just ok. They at least did not charge us for the salmon my gf did not eat, but unless I hear the food has gotten much better we won't be back.

This beautiful little restaurant has been here for a very long time but I had never been there until a couple of my foodie friends invited me to go long. The food was very good with charming ambience . If you know the food was delicious, it's very very pricey. I will come back the next time I get a big commission check.
