Services
The John P. Feeney Funeral Home is located in the beautiful Centre Park Historic District, minutes from Route 12 (Warren Street Bypass), Albright College, Charles Evans Cemetery, and Berks History Center. Our spectacular Georgian Mansion provides the most elegant, historical atmosphere in Berks County to celebrate the life of a loved one with family and friends.
The John P. Feeney Funeral Home was founded in 1941 by John P. Feeney. It was located in a modest row home in the 1200 block of North 10th Street in Reading. Back in those days, many funerals were still being held in the deceased family's home, actually in their living room. This made the need for a large funeral facility unnecessary.
John Feeney's main focus was to provide a dignified funeral service at a very reasonable price. His wish was to concentrate on helping families through difficult times without the services becoming a financial burden to them. We pride ourselves on paying attention to even the smallest details of a funeral service.
In the mid-1970s, the John Feeney Funeral Home realized that preplanning a funeral or cremation service in advance made the service even more appropriate, as it allowed a person to state his or her wishes in writing. Besides fulfilling the person's desires, the other positive point of pre-planning is that it relieves the emotional burden from the surviving family members and/or spouse to make the right choices at a very difficult time.
A traditional service provides one final opportunity for family and friends to view their loved one in a peaceful repose. For generations, funeral directors have honed this ability to capture the natural beauty of a loved one for this moment of remembrance. We offer several affordable options when it comes to traditional funerals.

They were responsible for the funeral of my father two years ago, tomorrow. I didn’t recognize my dad. He died of cancer, so he lost a considerable amount of weight. They were given photos of him, so they could try and make him look like his former self. He looked like they did nothing to help his appearance. They put glasses on him, and my dad only wore glasses to read. My family was extremely disappointed.

Today, August 11, 2019, I attended the Feeney open house/garden party and toured the mansion. I was impressed by the building and its furnishings. It was a perfect day weather-wise. Tables were set up out back and refreshments were served. At noon an oldies band started playing music from the 50's and 60's. I did not stay for the butterfly launch. But the building's interior and its antique furnishings was why I attended this open house. The next open house is Christmastime.

This is a beautiful funeral home. Mike Feeney is a veteran and so was his dad John P Feeney. That being said, they are one of the best funeral homes in the area if you are looking to have a nice and dignified veteran service. They work with you on cost as well which is great. Thank you for your service John P Feeney and Mike!!

Mr. "Mike" Feeney was wonderful. My mother passed away unexpectedly, and he was very compassionate and easy to work with. I felt that he listened to my family's needs throughout the entire process. He also was extremely well-versed into the process of planning a cremation. We were able to make the arrangements together in one afternoon. I feel that Mike did an excellent job honoring my mother's life.

The services held here for my beloved father-in-law were superb, flawless, and dignified, as was everything throughout our experience at this beautiful, historic funeral home. My family found the director and everyone at Feeney's to be respectful, courteous, sympathetic and helpful. Mike ensured that everything was impeccable, down to the last detail, and we could not have asked for better care during our extraordinarily difficult time of loss.

Thanks Mike, and staff.

Sincerely,

My precious mother Ann M. Hartman passed away October 15, 2018 . She had her arrangements and wishes already noted. My husband and I had to go and make sure my mother's wishes were fufilled. One of the worst days of my life ( understatement ) We met with Chris and sat together to make sure he had all the obituaries printed exactly perfect. Chris was very patient, understanding, and made me feel that he cared and gave me time to spend with my mother. i was hesitant, scared, numb, and so very sad. As I walked into the room where my mother was laying, I was so depressed, didn't know what I was going
