I went on to study biology and play basketball at Abilene Christian University, where I met my wife Bonnie. She is a speech language pathologist. I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX.

Angela is amazing! She is incredibly thorough, gentle, and takes her time with you! I’ve been other places and feel like they rushed through my teeth cleaning, but that’s never been the case with Angela. She will make sure to address all your questions and concerns. Doctor Payne is great too! Very thorough and patient. Highly recommend Asheville Smile Center!

Dr. Payne GiGi and Angela Made me feel comfortable through the whole process ... Not being at a dentist in several years I was worried about what some of my issues were going on but Dr. Payne was very Patient and Transparent about how they could help me. I left knowing that I was in great hands and had a plan for taking Care of my Dental needs.. I would highly recommend Asheville Smile to anyone.

My first visit was the best dental cleaning I've had in years. My hygienist Angela was not only a great hygienist, but she was engaging, not just "doing her job", I actually had fun! I also liked that Dr Payne commented on the quality of my prior dental work. He noticed it and is confidential enough to mention it, gaining my confidence that he knows good work and will provide it.The staff was friendly and professional, all and all a very good new dentist appointment.

I love the doctors and hygienists and staff at Asheville Smile Center! After a particularly bad experience at another practice, the folks at the Smile Center were a breath of fresh air. They are extremely competent and forthcoming and you can tell they actually care about their patients. They are very open and honest, while being non judgmental. Like I said, a complete breath of fresh air. I am so glad I found them and will always recommend them to anyone who asks for a dentist recommendation.

Finding a good, honest dentist’s office is kind of like finding a good, honest mechanic and I have found my forever dentist! I am still in shock in how much I enjoyed my experience yesterday at Asheville Smile Center. All of the staff were genuinely kind people that were nothing but warm and welcoming. Angela Phillips was honestly one of the most likable people I have ever met in my life and made me feel so at ease. I cannot say enough good things about this office!

I feel like I’ve been scammed. I called to set up an appointment to have my teeth whitened. They won’t do that unless I’ve had a consult, okay fine. I pay $98 for a deposit towards my treatment. Also okay. I go in there, the dentist looks at my teeth for about 30 seconds and says the best way is at home treatment, then charged me another $53 for two tiny tubes of whitening gel (about one treatment per tube) that you can buy on Amazon for $10 a piece. So I paid $149 for something that should’ve only cost me $20. BS if you ask me. If anything, just charge me for the tubes and let me leave

Angela, the Dental Hygienist, was phenomenal!!! She’s so personable and sweet. I came here from going to Aspen Dental once and was not at all impressed with all of the things they found “wrong” in my mouth (no other dentist has ever mentioned these “issues”), and I am immensely pleased with Asheville Smile Center. I just moved to Asheville in July and am very grateful for finding this awesome office. Dr. Payne is amazing, too! Everyone is gentle and kind and I do not feel rushed out of the office.
