At the age of 17, I knew that special needs was my purpose in life, I just didn't know to what capacity. The only and best way to tell you how I got here is to tell you that this is exactly what I was created to do. I have been working on this salon concept for a number of years, and finally through a lot of faith, trust, and determination, my dream has become a reality.
I have done my best to think "outside of the box" to create an environment unlike anything you have ever seen in a hair salon. I am completely focused on making sure my clients are accomodated and at ease no matter the situation or circumstance. I have been in the hair industry for a little over 18 years and have had the opportunity to have special needs clients my entire career.

We have been going to see Amy for over 5 years. The “we” is parents and all children, and we can’t imagine getting a haircut anywhere else. She knows exactly what each of us needs and we go there every three weeks without fail (the “boys”, ladies in our family will take a little longer to go back). Amy is amazing at what she does! I always recommend her to my clients , you do have to make reservations it's a MUST! She is usually super booked because of the fantastic job she does, and she's super patient and has a lot of tips and tricks. If your child has trouble sitting for a long time she'll cut his hair standing up, sitting on the bean bag or playing with toys

I have 4 year old twins on the spectrum and they have never been fond of getting haircuts. The last several haircuts were just so traumatic that whenever we'd drive near the salon they used to go, they would get so anxious and complain "no haircut!!"

Amy is God sent! My son has Autism and ADHD and is always very fidgety during a haircut. It normally takes 2 people to hold him down to get him to stay still. When my so. Got his hair done by Amy he didn't even flinch! He stood still the whole entire time! She did the cut exactly how I wanted it and it looks amazing!

Haircuts with our son used to be a nightmare. And we found THairapy, everything changed. My husband began taking our son on his own to haircuts. These were always a whole family thing because it took two people to support our son through the experience.
With Amy's help, my husband learned exactly what our son needed to feel more calm and secure. After months of practice now, haircuts have increasingly gotten better and better for him. Now we take our son monthly for a quick trim, and he is doing so so great!

Amy is AMAZING!! My child has never sat for a haircut so I contacted her to see if a salon catering to kids with special needs could help. Amy contacted me right away and spent a good amount of time on the phone with me discussing options. She reassured me that we WOULD figure out how to get him to get a haircut. It put me so at ease and gave me hope. She got him in a few days later just to observe another kiddo. He was very excited to meet her little dog, Dusty. What a great experience for our family! We were concerned about our little girl getting a haircut due to her fear of ppl touching her (She's on the Autism Spectrum), and Amy made our first haircut a memorable experience.
Amy definitely has won our trust and confidence, and we're so grateful we have a Hair salon like hers to go to. We felt safe, supported and knew in our hearts that we were in good hands.

Service is amazing, really nice comfy atmosphere. Monica was my hair styler and she did amazing job. My hair was blond with a 2 months dark roots. I've been taking my son there for a couple months now and he really enjoys it. Juan is really understanding and truly cares about making sure the kids are comfortable and trust him while he cuts their hair. He's helped my son overcome his fear of haircuts tremendously just in time for summer!!!

My son has always disliked haircuts. We have had a hard time trimming his hair at home. This time, we tried Thairapy Hair Salon. Juan was amazing. He took the time to make my son feel comfortable. Although there was crying and escape behavior, Juan patiently worked with my son and gave him a much needed haircut. Clean, spacious and welcoming atmosphere.

This is THE place to take your kids if they're not fond of getting hair cuts. We have taken my 2 yr old son for haircuts at other places and he cries and struggles, has to be held still. Juan at tHairapy was very patient, respected my son's preferences, made sure he was comfortable, and clearly understands children on the spectrum. My son didn't cry at all - he was like a completely different kid. Also, they have a spacious play area which my kids didn't want to leave. AND, the cost is the same as another kids' salon in the area which doesn't cater to children on the

I am giving this place a three, but it really deserves a five for the quality of service once your kid is there, but the difficulty lies in scheduling appointments. For some reason it is really hard to get anyone on the phone there, and we've been doing some texting, but that is also not always effective. This is really a shame, because this is a terrific salon to bring your kid for a haircut. The salon is outfitted to entertain children while they wait, and the stylists are good with kids.

I was referred by a friend and excited to take my 2.5 year old daughter here for a haircut. I called and left a message to make an appointment and didn't hear back for almost two days. An auspicious start but I didn't let it bother me and made a same day appointment with Juan.

O man let me start by saying Colleen was amazing! Her studio is private so you aren't waiting in some lobby with other people. Her studio is relaxing and very homey. She is lovely to talk to and really listens to what you want. She plays relaxing music so the atmosphere is really nice too. I will definitely use her again and recommend everyone else uses her too! :)

Then some one sent me to Amy who specializes in special need hair cuts. She is so great with Isaac and now because of her help and patience my son can get his hair cut in 15 min!

After living in San Diego for 4 years and having a horrible experience with a previous haircut, I found Amy by word of mouth and decided to give her a try.... Boy am I happy I did. I am in love with my cut/color she did on me today.
