Freddy has traveled to Las Vegas, Hawaii, Salt Lake City and Costa Mesa to expand his arsenal of techniques in cutting, colour application, products and sales. Freddy is an avid supporter of Paul Mitchell's products and vision. He attended their yearly signature event in Las Vegas from 2003 to 2009 and remains loyal to their product line in continuing to adopt their evolving techniques and products.

I went in last week to get my first hair cut in years and Sheila did so great! For starters I was able to schedule online and with plenty of dates and stylists to chose from. When I came in I was impressed by how quickly I was taken care of. She recommended products for my hair type and gave me the long layers I wanted, my hair feels so healthy and the products are great. Cant wait to see her for my next appointment!

I can't recommend Groom The Salon enough to anyone that asks me where I get my hair done! I give all my thanks + love to Sheila for working her magic on my noggin every month. I feel like such a brand new woman after every appointment with her--hence why I keep coming back! She is well-versed + knowledgeable with any hair inquiries and executes every single color I've requested with ease. Most importantly, she's literally a beacon of light and provides wonderful hospitality every visit. I genuinely look forward to catching up with her on random shenanigans whilst getting my groom

2.5 stars rounded up. I got Pixie cut for $45 which is cheap for a woman's cut - so expect to get that . My hait cut was a bit sloppy - my stylist stopped using the comb to guide the cuts and started grabbing chunks and bluntly cutting at random at some point. I started to get really antsy which generally means it's not going to end well . The back was cut up way too high above my occipital bone so it looked awkward in the back and the hair was hard to style since it was so short it was basically a man's cut at that point. Same thing with the sides it just flares out and will take

If I could give 6 stars, I totally would!! I absolutely love my hair. Candice exceeded my expectations, which is saying a lot. The vibe was super comfortable. Not at all what I was expecting for downtown San Diego. I was so comfortable chatting with Candice that I forgot this was our first time meeting.
I'm terrible at putting into words what I want when it comes to hair but with the little info I gave, she knew EXACTLY what to do.
When my hair was done, it was dark out and they even offered to walk me to my car for safety. What service!!!

Went to get my hair dyed for the first time in my life so i was very nervous and excited. Sheila was awesome! She put my nerves at easy and did a great job. Loved the grey/silver hair she did. The salon also had a great design and everyone was friendly too. If you're looking for a color change I most definitely recommend Sheila.

I've been going to Freddy at Groom Salon for about a decade now. Always happy with how it turns out. In the off times I'm heading on vacation and need to be squeezed in for an appointment he always squeezes me in. Great service and I always leave feeling substantially less ugly than when I show up :)

I have been a client of Sheila and Freddy for over a year. Always the best experience here. They are so very talented and their prices are so fair considering the upscale downtown salon. I go here every 4 weeks for a haircut and once a week for my weekly blowouts. They are amazing and really go above and beyond to make sure I'm happy. Every single time. I'd recommend groom to anyone. Really number one in San Diego.

I recently visited this salon and was pretty disappointed. I was excited to check it out based on the reviews I had seen. 1. My stylist started 20 minutes late without an apology. I totally get things get off schedule but at least acknowledge it. 2. The prices on the website are wrong (see pic attached). I was charged $65 for a simple haircut when the range says $45-55... fine just annoying. 3. Is the kicker for me, being the first time at the salon I thought that I would take advantage of the $10 discount for new customers. When I received the total, I was told "we don't do that anymore

I had my hair cut here a week ago. The salon was very nice and the employees were kind. I however, was given a haircut that i’m very upset with. I ask for a trim and had many inches taken off. I also was given extreme layers when all we discussed was face framing pieces. I specifically said I needed it to be long enough to put into a ponytail as my job requires it and I can’t even do that. I feel as though the stylist did whatever they felt while doing my hair and while they did a good job it is not at all what i ask for and this upset me greatly.

I decided to try out Groom the Salon after going to two other places in SD and not having a great experience. I went with my boyfriend to get his hair cut by Freddy a few months ago, and I really liked the ambiance and the comfortable vibes in there!
I'm really happy with my results, I didn't really know what I wanted but she totally nailed it! She was so much more careful than previous stylists and I love how my hair turned out! Thank you so much!

Hands down the best salon and my favourite so far. Sheila was able to understand what i wanted and she repaired my hair. She gave me the haircut i have been wanting for a while. I am definitely returning for some more highlights. Sheila took her time to do the highlights and unlike a lot of other salons, she didn't rush and that says a lot about ensuring quality. She was super patient with my questions and is very knowledgeable.

This review is a little late but better late than never. I got my hair done in June with Candice. I wanted to go for a blonde balayage style for my birthday and she totally nailed it! She took my dried out dull pandemic hair and turned it into beautiful healthy locks I couldn't stop showing off. She's amazing! Both she and her husband, Freddy, make you feel so welcome from the minute you walk in the door. She listened to everything I wanted and made sure I was happy every step of the way. I briefly visited this establishment and it was clean, neat and the customer service was top notch. I don't frequent San Diego, but this is the only place between B street and C street that actually didn't treat me like riffraff when I came to ask a couple of questions, and for that alone I'd happily give them my patronage if I was in the area.

Like others I am a Freddy fan!!!! Couple things: I have pretty short hair. Love a salon that charges based on length. While experience and technique are just as important for short hair - there is no time at the end drying, flattening or curling. So you got me w a $30 cut from a dude who with 15 years of experience KNOWS HOW TO CUT HAIR. For me great location block and a half from home. He's on time. Makes appointments. And follows all the Covid protocols. Felt clean and safe. Highly recommend as others have. Let's keep small businesses open in SD!!

Freddy saved my (hair's) life when I received an awful short (women's) cut in my hometown and was traveling through San Diego. He accommodated me last minute too for which I'm super grateful. I've been to the salon twice so fast and have had both Stephanie and Freddy dye and cut my hair. The salon has a fantastic urban feel and they really go above and beyond making their clients feel welcomed and pampered.
