Been here before and it was nice.
Showed up on time for my "appointment" and waited for 15 minutes. Eventually had to walk out because it was clear that it'd be another 15 minutes before anyone could actually cut my hair.
Aweful service. Didn't even have a receptionist to handle booking an appointment or checking me in.

I found theory online and chose to go there as I too am a stylist - and they work looked really solid. I like the Aveda brand ethics so I made an appointment with Ivy
the place was cute and lots of parking, safe and easy to access!
it was clean and cool and wasn't blaring music. Super relaxing vibe.
Ivy gave me a full consultation and a solid price before we did anything. I appreciated that !!!
she literally gave me exactly what I wanted. She was funny and nice and focused on the health of my hair. Made no promises on what we could achieve and totally delivered !! My highlights are

Teresita is so wonderful, sweet, knowledgeable and made my day!
She took the wrong, ugly color on my hair and made it beautiful. The cut was improved greatly with more movement and shape. Teresita was so worth the money too! I'm so satisfied and happy I made the decision to go there.

Rarely leave reviews but hope I can convince someone to not go here for short cuts. Wow. If you're looking for someone to just "remove hair" without any regard for what it looks like, this is the place. Tried to explain what I wanted multiple times, showed picture, she just whipped out an awful cut until I there couldn't be more removed. Avoid.

I went to theory twice to get my hair fully highlighted. The first time I went, I didn’t get exactly what I wanted, but figured my stylist and I could achieve my goal in the sessions to come. During the next session, my hair felt quite brittle afterwards (which has never happened) but I wasn’t too concerned, since it only felt like that on a few pieces. About a week later, I went to get my hair cut at a different salon close to my job, and the stylist that cut my hair pointed out exactly how botched my hair was. I moved to Austin from Massachusetts 6 months ago and after many years with one stylist there I was understandably nervous about finding someone new. Theory was the only salon I found online that mentioned short hair specifically and I'm very glad I found them. I enjoyed meeting Lucy who did a great job of reviewing what I wanted (very short Pixie) and making adjustments along the way. My cut is just what I wanted, looks great days later and the whole experience was just right.

Reading these comments, I triple-dog dare them to charge me for as many times as they have called ME to reschedule my appoint with Cecilia. The last time I was there was on Sept. 6th after they needed to rearrange my appointment yet again. And yes, I got there and she was foiling someone's else's long hair yet again! I know how long that takes. So I told them I was going over to HEB to get some groceries, then got a text and never went back. If you want crappy service, go for it. I'll never go back, which is why I think they knew to never call me again. I have it all memorialized

Went in to correct some quarantine hair color and Danielle was amazing! She was personable and understanding of what I wanted. Because of how I dyed my hair during quarantine, we weren't able to do exactly what I had in mind, but she walked me through what was the best option for now and I love the outcome! Highly recommend.

I have been to Theory Hair Salon 1 time for a haircut and overall I had a good experience. I really wish I could rate this how I saw it as a 3.5 star business/experience, but I've decided on 3 stars because the experience and environment left a lot to be desired.
Pros:
1) I like my hairstyle and have received some compliments on it.
2) Convenient location close to I-35 & an H-E-B for those of us that are busy
3) This salon does accept walk ins (if they have a stylist available)
4) Overall clean environment and orderly if not a bit on the utilitarian side
5) Aveda products = higher quality

I went to Theory today as a walk in, unsure of exactly what I wanted but needing a cut. Enter Brittany. She was incredibly attentive and listened to my ideas without being condescending (I've had that a time or two with stylists). She made a few suggestions and worked with me to come up with the perfect cut. I won't be going anywhere else from here on out.
She did an amazing job and I absolutely love my new style. Brittany was also very knowledgeable about colors and the pros/cons of various techniques. I'll be going back for a balayage color in the next week or two thanks to her

Went in for a cut & color. I showed the hairstylist the exact color that I wanted and asked several times if she would be able to do it(red/maroon) She kept seeking out help from her manager during the whole color process.. I was not happy with the color nor cut, she ended up cutting more than I requested. The whole time she kept trying to sell me their hair products and kept saying how thick my hair is.(they charge more depending on hair thickness)

I was lucky to have stumbled back upon the salon! I had an appointment with my typical-not this- salon on a Friday but unfortunately the lady had to cancel. I did not have a back up stylist, all the other ones I had tried at that salon (I.e., not this one) I don't really care for. I did a little research on other Aveda based salons, in the north Austin area. I called a few and they all required a consultation then schedule a second appointment (I was on a time crunch because I needed my hair done for the next week). I went to theory hair salon because Tuesdays and Thursdays it's $25 you can get your hair blowdried and washed! And then I found a great stylist her name is Stephanie she is my very kind works very well and you have great person. I was going to maybe once a week to have a wash my hair so she would wash it blow dry and then flat iron it. My hair is very short now so it only takes a couple pieces to flat iron. Well I was paying her $35 and a pretty good tip. Last time I went in I washed my hair was $35 she blowdried it and then when she said well if I iron it it's gonna have to be an additional
