Services
Dr. Hekking grew up playing in the creeks of Virginia, catching crayfish, salamanders, and anything else that crossed his path (including a snapping turtle!). He didn't realize the depth of his connection to animals until his dog, Sable, passed away suddenly while in high school. It was at that time that he dedicated himself to helping owners and pets develop their special connection and to keep it going as long as possible.
At Etowah Veterinary Hospital, we offer a variety of services to care for your pet. If you have any questions or would like more information on how we can care for your pet, please contact us today. Our staff will get a chance to talk to you and see if you are having any trouble with your pet. We will also go over diet, preventative medicine, and exercise to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible.
We had an emergency with my Mother-in-law's dog over the weekend. We called Etowah Veterinary Hospital and received an appointment immediately. The staff was very friendly and the dog was taken care of with great care. Two days later the Hospital called to see how the dog was doing and if we had additional questions.
Here at Etowah Veterinary Hospital, we believe that the best care for your pets involves preventing problems before they arise. During our wellness visits we examine your pet from whisker to tail, and everywhere in between. We can evaluate important things like the lungs and heart, monitor dental health and ensure your pet is a healthy weight.
Spaying refers to the surgical procedure performed on female dogs and cats to render them infertile. There are many benefits to spaying your female dog or cat. Spaying before the first heat cycle in dogs greatly reduces the likelihood of mammary tumors to less than 0.5%. If a dog is allowed to go through two heat cycles, approximately one in four will develop mammary tumors.

We have been a customer here for almost three years now and just yesterday we had to put our dog down. This being an obviously sad and traumatic situation; I was absolutely blow away by Dr Rory and staff's compassion throughout the process. The private room available to say goodbye and the private backdoor exit made this very difficult time for my wife and Me manageable. Their thoughtful and caring approach to this difficult situation will make us customers for life.

I can't say enough good things about the folks here. Everyone cares about the pets in their care. Mandy and Lisa, the receptionists always remember our name and our dogs! They treat our fourlegged kids like they were theirs. We recently had to put one of our dogs to sleep after a long illness. Everyone was so kind. We will never forget how well they took care of our boy. It is tough to find people like this these days.

Dr. Hekking and his staff are amazing! He treats my cats like family. He is kind, personable, and 100% about making my cats comfortable and happy. The ladies at the desk are always super friendly and welcoming as well. Tell them I referred you, because I cant stop raving to my fellow pet owners about how wonderful they are!!

The staff is very nice when I came with my puppy I just adopted from Cobb County Animal Shelter. The staff let me know since she is young, whether or not I wanted to have my office visit now or when she is older and ready to get her rabies shot. That is so I wouldn't have to pay for two office visits. I decided to do it that day since the shelter will give her the rabies shot. Dr. Cheng is a very straightforward doctor (she didn't even say hello when walking in lol) and give me a lot of advice on how to crate train my puppy since this is my first non Golden Retriever dog and I don&apos

When my lab, Dude, was dealing with cancer and hip dysplasia, he could not walk on his own. We had to go out of town and felt Dude needed to be boarded with a vet in case something happened. The staff here paid so much attention to him. They spent so much time in his kennel with him so he wouldn't be alone and they treated him so kindly to his very last moment. Dude did not survive but everyone here made his last days with us much easier. Dr. Cheng has been so caring to Dude and I could not have asked for more from all of the vet techs. Now we come here for our Yorkie and new Chihuahua puppy

We had to take our 5 month old Belgian Malinois here when he started throwing up blood and wouldn't eat or drink. It was super close to closing time, and you never would have known it by the attention and how caring the staff was. They gave him an IV for fluids and a couple medicines but we were out of there for under $300 and within 24 hours he was doing 100x better!

Even though they aren't the closest Vet to us, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.
