High Rise Building wide open working space on Bagby Street, it is a carefully curated modern urban street inspired design, with high ceilings, custom graffiti by local street artist legend artist Daniel Anguilu, and big windows for enhanced natural lighting.

This review goes out to my girl Rosie (IG: @behindtherosychair)! I found her through friends who have entrusted their hair to her, and from now on, I will be doing the same. She is the sweetest hairdresser I've ever had, and she and I bonded over our common interests. Rosie asked me frequently if there was anything I needed, and when my friend delivered food and boba to me, Rosie moved me to a table so I could eat comfortably. My hair turned out beautifully, and I got so many compliments on it. Even a month later, my hair has grown out nicely, and the balayage still looks amazing.

Discovered @teaseitwithtaylor "Taylor" at Shampu early 2020, by mid 2020 diagnosed with oral cancer learning radiation & chemo would create hair loss. Cannot praise Taylor enough for how she cared for my compromised hair while keeping the perfect shade of blonde. Working around 1/3rd bald head and 50% hair on what was left after chemo, as well as hair loss that being almost 57 can cause.

I loved feeling like a vip guest at shampu! I got the perfect scalp massage + conditioning treatment from Maddie followed by the most fabulous Bardot bangs by Keelan! I left feeling silky smooth, glamorous, and refreshed. Thanks for such a wonderful experience back in a salon after months of sad attempts at giving myself bangs :-)

I came in for the 1st time for a balayage "RETOUCH". My hair was done by Caroline. She is an amazing sweet girl but this is how my hair ended up.... we agreed on a date and she agreed to fix it NO charge. Date came (week later) and salon called me to reschedule. The second appt came... salon called me AGAIN to reschedule because Carolyn was going to be out until further notice. They gave me the option to see another stylist but made clear I would have to pay again. This is my hair... I can't pay for something that was not done right the first time and paid OVER $300 for the service

I stumbled upon Michy's IG (@hairbymichy) after seeing a lot of the people I know going to her to get their hair done. I followed her for a while before deciding to get my hair done. Her work is amazing and beautiful. She does consultation through her DMs on IG and will let you know what you need to do before making your appointment. I came in for a test strand and finally got to meet her to talk about my hair. She was very nice and helpful. I was lucky to grab an earlier appointment within that week because she had a cancellation.

After the pandemic quarantine my hair was in desperate need of professional attention, particularly as a natural brunette going platinum white blonde! I got set up with Michelle (Shelly), and I am SO HAPPY that I did!! She's lovely as a person and does a fantastic job with cut and color. I will be coming back, and I highly recommend her (and this salon as a whole actually) to anybody in the area!

I wanted to give it a week or so before I wrote this review... I was referred to Shampu by a friend and was really excited to get a full balayage and finally get my hair done after quarantine.I drove 45 minutes from the suburbs to downtown after scheduling my appointment and waiting three weeks to finally get in... And when I say get in I mean I finally got into an apprentice not to a stylist that has been there for years. Shampu is the only salon I will ever let touch my hair ever again.
I went in after my hair got BOTCHED and turned green after going to another salon asking for a very silvery blonde to replace my white blonde at the time.
Phoung took my hair from basically seaweed green to a gorgeous ashy blonde in only 2 sessions. She was super nice and incredibly knowledgeable. We first tried something that didn't work as well as we hoped and I scheduled another appointment for a more intensive treatment. My hair looks so amazing, I even cried. My hair has never looked better in my life.
I wish I had taken a photo of it right before because it was awful from other stylists using low quality products and poor techniques.
Taylor advised me to go pick out the color and length I wanted for my extensions at Bellami. They let me use her stylist discount. It was honestly very affordable for high quality hair and Taylor's services.
I messaged her and coordinated all of my questions with her on Instagram. @teaseitwithtaylor
I came in and Taylor matched the extensions exactly!!! Blended my natural

This is my second time at Shampu and I've gone to Michy both times. I found her on IG and her work is amazing! Please see it for yourself @hairbymichy :) she asks you what you want but the outcome always turns out better than what you request!

Let me start by saying that I am extremely picky about my hair! In the 7 years I have lived in Houston I have probably seen 5 different hairstylists and never been fully satisfied... until I saw Taylor at Shampu!
The salon itself is a trendy loft style place in Midtown. The shampoo bowls even have massage chairs!! The only downside to the location is parking. They offer a valet service with the restaurant next door but the only other option is paid street parking. I parked a block away and had to add time twice.

Michelle Fournier! I'm so glad I found her. She's sooo patient and really cares about her clients. Instead of just doing what the client asks, even if it means risking the integrity of their hair, she gives her input and steers you in the right direction. I've had a lot of colorists give me false hope on the results that they could deliver, but Michelle doesn't do that at all!
