Island Life Animal Hospital was founded on a vision by Drs. Johnathan Pierce and Danielle Gallo-Pierce. Together, we built a full-service and progressive 3,500 sqft Veterinary practice in the St. Petersburg, FL area. As pet owners ourselves, we strive to focus on preventative care, advanced diagnostics, as well as routine and state-of-the-art surgical procedures.

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Dr. Danielle Gallo has strong roots in the Sunshine State including now residing in the St. Petersburg area where her close-knit family has also relocated. A graduate of Florida International University, Dr. Gallo first received her Bachelors of Science degree in Biological Sciences (Magna Cum Laude) in 2005 before pursuing her lifelong dream to become a veterinarian.
A Florida native, Meagan has been involved in the pet care industry for close to a decade working in the capacity of veterinary reception and doggy daycare. As our lead Customer Service Specialist, Meagan is our main point of contact when pet owners call or enter our animal hospital. Her experience, kindness, and warm demeanor is a huge asset to our team at Island Life Animal Hospital.
Many silent conditions are caught while pets undergo a comprehensive physical exam, including during their wellness visit. Wellness services involve but are not limited to a comprehensive physical exam, vaccinations, and parasite testing such as heartworm and fecal testing. Blood panels, radiographs, and ultrasound may also be recommended based on exam findings, age of your pet, or familial/breed related history of disease.
Maintaining your pet's dental health is crucial to your pets overall health. Dental disease, in the long run, can affect the heart, liver, kidneys, and overall pet wellness. Most animals will not show signs of discomfort or pain even if they have periodontal disease that may be extreme. At Island Life Animal Hospital, we offer dental procedures in our own dedicated dental suite.

I was lucky to meet both doctor Danni and Dr John due to my busy work schedule, they are very experienced, extremely knowledgeable, and kind. They also have a good system in place so that one is in and out asap, which eliminates the unnecessary stress for people and their patients. My precious cat recovered very quickly after the surgery and is enjoying it’s spoiled life as usual. Grateful!

This hospital has been great so far. They definitely love seeing pets, staff is beyond friendly, always ready to accommodate and help. Can't be any happier with their service. Helped me a lot. What a wonderful place for pets. Highly recommend! Also, their communication is at best.

The best! Brought in our long haired dog, covered in burrs and they took us right away. They spent an hour getting the burrs off and the price was amazingly inexpensive. On the way out our dog was kissing Jasmine like the were long lost friends. Thanks for doing an amazing job.

Great vets and staff, have never had a bad experience here. As someone in the industry I am extremely particular about who works with my animals. Dr Pierce, Dr Gallo, and rest of staff have always been beyond accommodating and easy to work with. Top notch medicine while always treating you like family.

During our trip our yellow Lab Sam was bitten by a dog at the beach so we needed someone to check his wound.
We called and were able to stop by right away. Unfortunately Sam needed stitches. We didn't feel comfortable but Dr. Pierce and his Team blew all bad thoughts away and took care of Sam better than we could have wished for!
Needles to say Sam is already up and running around as if nothing happened.

I would like to thank Island Life Animal Hospital for saving my dog's life! He is 13 years old and decided to eat a squeaky toy! He was in terrible condition and couldn't even move when we woke up yesterday morning, and because we are only here visiting, I called the closest vet! Dr. John Pierce rearranged his other appointments for an emergency surgery! I am beyond grateful for Dr. John and his super loving and kind staff. They took the best care of my little boy over the past two days!!! I highly recommend them!!! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!! 💖

I am visiting from out of town and Dr Gallo and her team were able to fit my dog in for an appointment. All the staff were so friendly and awesome! They took such good care of my little pup and I could tell he was very comfortable through out the visit. Dr Gallo took time to explain everything and make sure I knew what to look out for. Couldn’t recommend more highly!
