The atmosphere was lively. We were seated quickly but had reservations. We ordered the octopus appetizer and it was amazing! We ordered the Greek style lamb which was average to poor. Little flavor and overcooked. Nothing about it said Greek! Presentation similar to going to an all you can eat buffet and playing yourself. I ordered the Greek lobster and pasta. The lobster was barely present. Two small claws. The shrimp was baby shrimp. What baby shrimp??a meal like that you would expect large or extra large shrimp not tasteless baby shrimp. The drinks were excellent but at $200 for two and a meal

Highly recommend having dinner here! A true gem! We walked in not knowing what to expect and walked out feeling a part of the Nikanos family! The staff is so friendly, the food is fresh and a true reflection of… Mediterranean cuisine. The drink menu is creative along with traditional flavors. We look forward to returning and pulling up a seat at the cozy bar next time!

This is the 4th time we ate at this restaurant in Ogunquit and the food and service is amazing each time! They serve the freshest and most authentic Greek food short of visiting Greece! The staff is wonderful. The second time we ate there the waitress remembered us! They are fun and very attentive. We have eaten both lunch and dinner and neither disappoints. A restaurant you have to try!

As most of the restaurants in the area are already closed for the season, my wife and I came across this place. What a nice surprise!
Every dish was very tasty and flavorful.
We shared the "yesterday soup", mezze of hummus, tzatziki and bean paste, and the stuffed grape leaves.
For the main dish we had the Mediterranean salad and the spiced lamb flatbread.

Our unexpected perfect evening. Upon a great recommendation of a local waiter, we happened upon a bar table with no wait. The wine recommendation was on point, the specials were outstanding and we savored every last moment with greek coffee and a unique, custom russian/italian coffee of my friend's choosing. The wait staff was amazingly patient given the late season rush and helped make this a perfect one stop shop for a perfect night in Ogunquit. Thank you!

I believe this was the best chicken souvlaki I have ever had...anywhere. The skewered vegetables were also tasty and perfectly done. Top that off with a bottle of retsina and a shared order of spanakopita and you have a great meal. Not all that expensive, either. I wish we didn't live 3,000 miles away, but I can't recall a Greek meal in the L.A. area as good as this one. Oh, fine service, as well.

From start to finish an amazing meal! We had the flaming cheese, the village salad, and the lemon chicken- all were flavorful and delicious. Service was so friendly and we were checked on many times to be sure everything was to our liking. We were able to sit outdoors comfortably with lots of heaters. Wonderful jazz trio to cap off the night! This place was 5 stars- we will be back!

A bunch of us went to this place, and all the food we ordered was delicious!
The service was amazing, and they were able to accommodate a large table. Our table was rowdy from have a very long and fun beach day, and they treated us great and got everything we needed.

The waitress was rude when she brought our main plates… lamb dish was good but both chicken souvlaki plates were made with chicken thighs… chicken souvlaki is made with chicken breast or tenders… octopus and… kalamari very chewy plus the caesar salad wasnt the right one… when we asked the waitress about the souvlaki meat she had no clue and needed to confirm with the owner if it was thighs… well we returned both plates… the food was pretty mediocre! At the end the waitress came at our table around 8pm and asked us to leave while it was pouring outside

Arrived without a reservation but luckily the very friendly hostess was able to seat us. I would recommend making a reservation because this is a fabulous restaurant. The service was outstanding and the food delicious! There was entertainment the night we were there, Greek music and dancers. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and wine.

Where do I start? How about a blanket statement of how incredible the food was from start to finish. Every single appetizer and entree dish that was ordered was spectacular, the cocktails were both flavorfully created and strong, and service perhaps even better (hot tip: ask to sit in Michael's section, he gave us fantastic recommendations and had us laughing all night). We visited Nikanos for the first time after reading favorable reviews. For starters I ordered the mussels which were the best I've ever had. What flavor and the sauce was made with a delicate ouzo recipe. My companion had the grilled octopus over a mixture of beans, tomatoes and potatoes which were simply delicious. For entrees I ordered the braised lamb shank and the better half ordered the fish of the day which was branzino. Again both were wonderful and bursting with flavor. The service was great...our waiter Christian was doing double duty as a bartender

The food was pretty good. The lobster pasta dish was good. The spanakopita was also good. The Greek salad was fresh. The very pleasant hostess found two seats at the bar to eat in this booked up restaurant. The male bartender was terrific, though the couple to our side laughed at how the female bartender completely ignored us and only paid attention to the alcohol drinkers (not professional, not nice).

Absolutely amazing food and service! My husband and I made reservations here to take a break from the traditional costal Maine offerings and we were So happy we found this gem. The food was delicious and we kept sharing bites of each other's meal. We had the Lamb Meatballs, Lamb Souvlaki, and chicken souvlaki, followed by desert of a custard phyllo pastry I can not recall the name of, and the Greek donuts. Every dish was spectacular! We will definitely be making this a regular stop on each visit.

It is 5/19/21 and we decided to come to Nikanos on a whim for dinner. Best decision! We arrived at around 5:45 this evening without a reservation. We were seated immediately inside as requested.

This new place is serving Mediterranean food with flare. Traditional dishes are fresh clean and have a lightness. Seasoned and cooked perfectly lamb souvlaki , w delicious rice and skewer of veggies great taziki, I would serve a smidge more. I tried my partners shrimp souvlaki, cooked perfect.
