Had reservations for 6pm. Wasn't aware that a show was going on, no big deal. Checked in with the waitress let them know we were here for dinner. Got drinks from the bar and then sat down at our table. I think we and another group were the only ones sitting inside the dining area. I'm about to finish my glass of wine and I noticed that no one has come by to ask us for water, appetizers, etc. With the show going on it occurred to me that if you weren't there for the show, good luck in getting any attention as far as ordering dinner was concerned. I don't mean to bash the place

My brother & sis in law brought me here fri after Thanksgiving for my birthday lunch. I don't live in the Santa Cruz area so I had never been here before.
It was nice sitting outside in the back patio. I was happy to see Crab Cakes Benedict on the menu. I have to be honest, I was disappointed. They were not on the usual English muffins. They had a very scant amount of hollandaise sauce on them. The crab cakes had diced carrots & black beans in them as filler. [ which I thought was odd ] I really couldn't taste crab. It came with some cut up fried potatoes. I think $17 is overpriced especially

Horrible experience. Friend made reservations. We got there a bit early ask to sit at the bar. They said it was a 30 dollars cover charge. We told them we have a reservation. She declined to sit us. We went over to Tampico had a drink. Our friend notified us she was there. We walk back over they wouldn't not allows in. She was nope your table is not ready. We where our friends are already in there. She git upset and said where? Where are your friends at? We ask our friend to come out and greet us. Then they did allow us to come in. Really nice appetizer night with friends, much of the same staff is there post pandemic. We used to do this night monthly before the pandemic. We always chose Thursdays, because it was a good night for all of us. Which now is a live music night. The problem for us was we go to chat, the music is not overwhelmingly loud, though we had to chat between songs and sets. We hope to shift to a quieter night in the future and continue our monthly night. The food was great as always, and the staff 110 percent helpful, friendly and downright great as well!!

A friend and I ate at Michael"s on a late Sunday morning. The servers were attentive and the hostess was cordial but the food was not good. I had lunch there earlier in the year on their patio and it was so pleasant and the food was decent. I was a bit dismayed to find that NONE of the servers wore masks. It's the first restaurant that I have been in Santa Cruz that the staff were not wearing masks. I believe they are still required to do so in our town and we were the only ones sitting inside.

This was, by far, one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. We were seated at our table on a busy, loud Thursday evening. Our waitress came shortly after we were seated and asked if she could take drink orders. We asked for a round of waters. She returned about 10 minutes later with the water, and then disappeared completely. We tried to wait patiently, understanding that the wait staff were probably busy. But time continued to drag on and on. By the time we had been sitting at our table for an hour with nothing but water, we were finally able to flag down a different waiter and ask

There are not enough stars to reflect the tremendous amount of gratitude we have for this place, the Owner Michael, their Events Coordinator Tressa and the staff. From start to finish absolutely amazing and most personable experience. In the months leading up to our wedding we would select this restaurant for our meetings and lunch dates and the food was consistently delicious, vibe warm and inviting and service always friendly and covid safe with masks/outdoor seating. First time dining here and sad to say it probably will be my last! Food is subpar and very pricey, the people who I assume to be the owners seem super nice and welcoming. Waitress not so much. She was annoyed the second we sat down and made us feel pretty unwelcome. (I'm guessing because we didn't order drinks so she thought we were young and not going to tip her well) Was rushed to put in our order by the waitress, she didn't seem to think much of us or even pretend to care about our experience!

We've come in since at least 2007. 1 or 2 owners ago. We've had a few family gatherings here, enjoyed many dinners, lunches, work gatherings and happy hours.
With full understanding that staff is short, this has been their main issue for the last year or two. Every time we have visited, we've heard at least one person complaining amongst their co-workers about how short they are.
It's tough to hire people, let alone good people. We aren't blind to that.
However, tonight's visit was no excuse for dinner service.

We celebrated my husband's Birthday there last night for the dinner show. We had a large group of 17, Kelly was our waitress. It was an exceptional night, everything was perfect. Every single one of our needs was attended to, the food was wonderful, the music was fabulous. Other than ithe first 10 minutes of busy, I was able to entertain all of our friends and family without worry and complete ease. Highly recommend this place!

We were 5 people, nowadays considered a large group. Yeah, I can see the service was a little slow. For us, that turned out to be a bonus because we got there too early for the lunch service. So waiting an extra 15 minutes was tolerable, if only because we already had breakfast and didn't want to eat more eggs. But the wait staff were super nice and polite. Props to that!
My wife made the EXCELLENT decision to order the pizza (Something she rarely eats). It was by far the best thing on the table. We could tell the pizza was hand-made. The crust

Coming out again after Covid closures, we headed out for lunch at Michael's. We sat in the bar and ordered pizza. One of the other diners, a New Yorker, said Michael's pizza was the closest to New York pizza that she'd ever had, so it was a no-brainer. She was not wrong! First pizza I ever had that I would order just as a cheese pizza with no toppings. Tasty and filling. Pizza for two and two draft beers for less than $30 without tip, plus leftovers for later? Yes, please! This, coupled with the camaraderie among the diners makes us highly reommend Michael's on Main.

Found this Gem in Soquel. Besides that the location is perfect it is a great place, Service is excellent and so are the drinks. The fun thing is that, as a musician from the Sixties, it took me right back. Live music and thank God they have their own house PA!! Of course the aging hippies boomers, like myself, were there in full force.

Candy was our server and she was very attentive. We sat on the back deck. The temp was cool so the propane heater that she put on next to our table was much appreciated. My avocado toast with poached egg was delicious. My husband enjoyed his 2 egg Traditional Breakfast, as well. Although there is no indoor dining, there are 2 outdoor seating areas to choose from. Live music is available Thursday through Sunday. Note: Parking lot is not very big, so I do not recommend RV parking unless your total vehicle length is less that 20'.

It ain't what it used to be.......I've enjoyed Grateful Sunday for the last few years, the music is great, the atmosphere, until recently COVID and all I guess, but now you call in and make a reservation pay $30.00 for two, in my case Tuesday for the next Sunday, Holly said we would be on the patio near the band, I enquired because the last few times have been less than desirable, this time we were put in the gazebo, the least desirable table in the place if you want to even see the band.
I guess if your not in the "inner circle" this place is not for you...save your 30.00

I have nothing but good things to say about Michael's on Main. We ordered thru Grubhub and they forgot a part of the order. When we called to get things sorted out, the person I talked to insisted that he deliver the missing part of the order (Grubhub refused to go back and deliver the entire order). The food was AMAZING! Worth the wait. And what great customer service! Highly recommend this place!
