Since opening, our goal at Soif Wine Bar & Merchants has been to provide a comfortable place to drink great wine, enjoy some thoughtful cocktails and eat food that is as good as the drink. Then, if the wine is to your liking, to be able to buy some from our wine shop and take it home.
When it comes to wines, we want those that are a challenge to find: reflective of their origin, expressive of the vineyard and the vintage and the traditions of their region, wines that are not a commodity, but limited and handmade, wines of great provenance and flavor. Our food is local and seasonal - we have always taken great pride in showcasing our Santa Cruz area farmers and purveyors.

Services
We are thrilled to welcome Caraccioli, Hammerling Wines, and Matre de Chai for a tasting on the Soif patio! Cost of admittance for the tasting is $45 for the general public, $20 for Soif wine club members. We will have oysters, cheese boards, and olives available for purchase. If you would like to dine with us at Soif the evening of the event, please make a reservation through our website or by calling us at (831) 423-2020.
Each installment includes tasting notes, regional information & recommended food pairings. Given that Soif was founded as a reaction against mass produced wines that could be from anywhere, the Terroiriste Wine Club is an opportunity to further explore an emerging vinous world that represents a return to partnership with rocks, soil and weather.
Winemaking details: Toreta is perched above the Adriatic Sea in the village of Smokvica on the island of Korula in Croatia. Toreta is named after the small round stone shelters built centuries ago to protect workers from the fierce winds and elements. There are only five of these old structures left on the Island and all of them are on the Toreta property, hence the name for the winery.
Wine can be intimidating. We are not. The world of wine can seem impossibly arcane and imposing to those who have not made it their profession. We have. We spend our days tasting, talking and researching, and learning how to painlessly deliver you to into the loving arms of deliciousness beyond your previous realm of experience.

4 stars for the food 5 stars for Dee Dee and her wine program. She recommended a bottle of wine that was exactly as we described. We also visited the wine shop and she recommended some great take home wines from local, smaller producers. She opened our eyes to great Californian wines from the central coast and we are forever grateful.

We had a blast here! Waitress was extremely helpful and made the fantastic recommendation of ordering a flight of 4 starters rather than just two entrees.
This was fun and you get more food for less.
Although, after seeing the seafood stew - I feel that might be the only way to get the full Soif experience! : ) We will be back to try this!

Great place to meet for a glass of wine, shop for a bottle or have a meal.
It’s a nice combination the teeters between casual and elegant. It’s pretty much fancy pants wine bar without all the pretentious nonsense.
They have a very thorough selection of local wines, California wines American wines and of course European wines.
Oh, if you don’t like wine they have a full bar of craft spirits for your enjoyment.
My wife and I just stopped in for a quick snack and a glass, so the hors d’oeuvre menu worked out for us wonderfully before we went off to dinner with friends elsewhere.

Came here for my friend's birthday dinner. We were seated promptly with our reservation. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Our food arrived so fast that we barely had time to finish them before everything else showed up. Luckily all the food was very delicious and we had no problem finding everything.
