Tony & Laura Kresic founded MMD from their basement in Carpentersville, IL. What started as a mail-order biz selling supplies to local municipalities quickly expanded to the land surveying market where our signature oak lath and stake products were born.
We moved shop to Gilberts, IL in 1987 to better serve land surveyors, road builders/excavators, pipeline/other underground contractors, and utility/locating companies. Our marking paints are formulated to address today's environmental concerns while providing efficient and dependable performance in a wide range of marking applications. Our line of roll flagging is the most durable, longest-lasting outdoor flagging available in the market thanks to our manufacturer's proprietary formulations.
Our original MMD wood lath is made of durable oak (try our bestselling 4' oak lath and oak stakes-they're both strong as heck)! We also have custom painted lath (mixed hardwood), eco lath (poplar), light lath (spruce), and oak hubs. Choose from wood marking stakes and lath with triangular points or pencil points.

The first survey company I ever worked for started buying supplies from MMD when they first opened up in Gilberts in 1987. When I started my survey company in 2007, one of the first stops I made was MMD to load up my truck with stakes, shovels, tapes, etc., etc. I have always been pleased with the personable service, and the importance they placed on helping me get anything I needed. I had the pleasure of doing business both with Tony, and later his daughter Kat after she started running the business. One thing I'll say, she never took the business or her customers for granted, like you sometimes

I love Kat and her team. You would think that picking up wood supplies would be a mundane activity, but it never is. The staff is friendly, personable, and always ready for me. They have quality products at a fair price. I also think it's great that they have a recycle program for spray paint cans, and a silly dog to great the customers. I will be a lifetime client!

Having met you and your father when I began my business back in 1996; I haven't even thought anyone could compete with the fantastic service and friendly faces at MMD. I have been completely satisfied with your timeliness! When times are busy, you tell me right away of where your schedule is and we order in advance of running out of supplies. We have never thought of changing suppliers; your costs are fair and again your variety of supplies is fantastic!
