Pets First Veterinary Clinic was founded by Dr. Chitra Natarjan in July of 2012. Our motto is to provide exceptional care for our patients and compassionate client services to make sure your pet receives the best possible treatment. We offer both conventional and holistic approaches to pet health and strive to personalize all treatments specifically for each pet.
Services
At Pets First, we will work with you to formulate the best plan of care by not only considering conventional and holistic approaches, but also your emotional, financial, and practical needs. We offer general care for your pets, including vaccinations and preventatives, but also emergency and illness services.
Dr. Chitra Natarajan, better known as Dr. C to her clients, opened Pets First Veterinary Clinic in 2012. She has been in practice since 1996 after graduating with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
Dr. C is certified in small animal acupuncture by the Chi Institute and has taken extensive courses in different alternative medicine modalities, including Chinese herbs, western herbs, and homotoxicology.She tries not to play favorites, and don't let the other dogs and cats know, but she is particularly fond of Dachshunds and orange tabbies.

Amazing vet! I moved to Chicago a few months ago with my frenchie Louis and I’m so glad we went to visit Dr. C. She is very kind and profesional. Taylor too, Louis love her. Today was his first appointment and the whole staff was so friendly welcoming.We travel a lot so he has been in too many different vets but this is the first time I want to leave a review because I feel this place is amazing! He was so happy. Thank you so much ♥️

I can't say enough about how much I love Pets First ❤! Dr. Matt is so kind and gentle with Mia and is patient with all of my questions. After a traumatic experience at my last corporate chain vet with previous elderly cat, Dr. Matt knows just how to handle my concerns kindly even if I am a little overprotective of my young and perfectly healthy current cat 😊.

Every vet I've ever been to tried to get the most amount of money out of me as possible by trying to push excessive labs for common issues. This vets office is different. They respect your time and money and are completely transparent about the most likely issue and respective treatment

We're moving to Texas at the end of this month, and we United Airlines mentioned that we might need a get our cat Hawk a "Health Certificate" and make sure he's up-to-date on his vaccines. To make a long story short, we had to take our cat Hawk to a local vet in Bensenville IL and things didn't go so well with the documentation we needed, but I was able to contact Hawk's previous Veterinarian "Dr. Mitchell" and his amazing office at Pet's First Veterinary Clinic and they were able to get us the Health Certificate that we needed, they didn't even charge my for it. Now we're able to fly to Texas

We used Dr. Mitchell for all the years we were at this clinic. He did amazing with our dog, and countless times, Dr. Mitchell went above and beyond for our dog. He met him as a puppy and cared for him for 5.5 years. We just moved out of state and are on the hunt for a new vet. No vet here has compared to Dr. Mitchell or his staff. Communication was always excellent. Front staff are super knowledgeable, and there’s always follow through when staff say they will follow up. Count yourself lucky if you have the option to bring your pet here !

10/10. As a fellow pet parent who did their vet search online and relied on reviews and recommendations, I just wanted to say how happy I am that I chose Pets First. I am a first-time dog/puppy owner who, naturally, has had tons of questions, and all the staff has been incredibly patient and responsive. Typically, we see Dr. Matt, who I could not recommend more, he is caring and takes the time to talk through any questions or concerns you may have, without feeling rushed. The staff at Pets First is outstanding! Everyone is so helpful, caring and friendly. Dr. C is one of the most patient and loving vets I’ve ever met - cannot recommend her enough. I never feel like I’m being “sold to” or that they’re suggesting things my pet doesn’t actually need. They have great follow-up practices and always make me feel thought of and cared for. Also, this office offers alternative medicine options for pets which I really appreciate.

My animals started seeing Dr. Mitchell several years ago, and we're all consistently pleased with him.
He's got a great bedside manner, he's good with the critters, and he's reasonable to work with. I maintain a small horde of busted animals (anemic cat with flutd, chronic kidney disease and behavioral issues in one dog, and general old age maladies in another dog), so we're in and out pretty regularly.
