Since 1921, we have been a highly respected, locally, family-owned funeral home, and it's for all those same reasons that we do not have to charge the ridiculously high corporate prices. It's hard to know what to say when someone experiences loss. Our free weekly newsletter provides insights, quotes and messages on how to help during the first year.

His great-grandmother, Gertrude Schlientz, was the 1st female, licensed funeral director & embalmer in the whole state of Ohio, in 1918. She worked for another Funeral Home in Eldorado, OH, then decided started her own business in 1921! We're located near downtown Dayton, just south of the Historic Oregon District.
We provide a wide range of professional services to meet your needs. We promise to provide every service with a smile, and to your highest level of satisfaction. We have the deepest respect for this traditional practice. If you are interested in learning more about the burial services we offer, please review the following information.
All we need to do is say the word "funeral" and within microseconds, you have an image in your mind of what a funeral looks like. This mental image comes from many sources: the geographical place, culture and society in which we live; our faith; our life experience.
Obviously then, a funeral service in Borneo would look very different from one held in Tanzania; there are even significant differences between the funerals held in ethnically and/or geographically diverse regions of North America.Yet, despite the differences, these funeral services have much in common.

A funeral service, whether traditional or more modern (memorial service or celebration-of-life), has two functions: to acknowledge the death and lifetime achievements of an individual and to bring grieving family members and friends together in support of one another during this difficult time. If you are interested in making funeral arrangements for a loved one, we invite you to call us to begin.
The earliest human burial dates back 100,000 years making it one of the longest-lived and most widespread of traditions. Multiple areas of improvement needed before I would suggest this funeral home. I never write reviews, but my family's experience could have easily been improved. Here are some of the items we experienced. I'll let you judge for yourself.
1. Always had to initiate any communication. Calls were not returned and communication always left some small detail out.
2. It's easy to try to blame the VA for everything that goes wrong, but it isn't always the VA. We requested a specific day nearly a week and a half before. After a week, it was still not scheduled and took several calls to finally get it

I’ll keep it short but these people are so good and down to earth. They explained everything to us step by step. They even listened to things I didn’t really care for and changed them to exactly what I wanted. They cried with us and laughed. It was like being with family. It was so nice. We felt so welcomed and at home.
I grew up and my parents still live in a large and older Dayton home so I have so much admiration for the beautiful history this building carries and how well they maintain it all.

Gary and Sarah are two of the most considerate people I have ever met. Very caring and easy to talk to. The building is older and absolutely gorgeous! They have gone above and beyond during this sad sad time! Not to mention the absolute fairest of pricing! I would recommend this company a hundred times over!!

My family has trusted in the competent, professional and genuinely caring people of Schlientz and Moore Funeral Home in our hour of need for several generations. Compassionate and patient, they help ease the burden of losing a loved one. You will not be disappointment in the cost or service. We recently lost a loved one and Gary, Sara and everyone went above and beyond to meet the needs of our family. My grandmother looked as though she were sleeping and was not overly made up. Taste and simple elegance is what you will receive here. We are forever grateful and will continue to count on them in

This review is being written by Alicia's husband .Fantastic service. Sarah is by far one of the nicest people you can deal with. My wife's sister unfortunately delivered a premature still born baby and my wife and I i live in Chicago and their mom was visiting us in Chicago during the delivery of the baby. Yes very bad timing. Well needless to say my sister-in law my wife and my mother-in-law were so devastated cause they couldn't be by her side and making the arrangements become a difficult and stressful time for them. I made a phone call and Sarah answered the phone I explained the situation
