DeBrazil Jiu-Jitsu Academy was founded by Martin H. Escobar in 1997, and is the longest running Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in Tucson, Arizona. We proudly represent the Rey Diogo/ Carlson Gracie Team. We specialize in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and provide training in personal self defense, sport Jiu-Jitsu, M.M.A. training, and law enforcement arrest & control tactics.

I’ve never seen a martial arts school that operated with less respect for peoples’ time. I spoke to the owner, Martin, a couple times about training and he knew I lived over 90 minutes away from his school. The first time, I tried setting up a private lesson with him, then he tried switching the day of and giving me someone else, so I didn’t go, but at least that time he had the courtesy of telling me. We spoke again and he told me they have an open mat that begins at 5:30. I left work early, around 3:30 to account for Tucson’s rush hour and got there around 5:15. Aside from other students

This school is top notch. I attended a drop in class while on a cross country move (I am in military). When I called, I did not get an answering machine but the owner and head instructor himself who was polite, enthusiastic and eager to help me train. When I showed up, he integrated me into the class and his students did the same. The class instruction revolved around points drawn from his students competition. During this segment, he highlighted several impasses his students encountered in recent competitions and various ways to turn those stalemate to advantages in the future. The finer points

If you have noticed a spring up of places offering an a la carte martial arts template, you probably notice it coincides with the popularity of folks cashing in on UFC. DeBrazil has been established for over 2 decades (less than 1-year in our new home) by the owner, Martín Escobar. He is our Professór who personally evaluates every one of his students - always has, always will. He holds us responsible for what he teaches us by encouraging us to teach new students.
