I ordered a maxieburger and fries. My husband picked it up. It arrived cold and appeared to have been thrown on the floor. The cheese sauce looked like chunky paste. It’s in the garbage can. We have come to the restaurant thousands of times and I’ve never had a meal this bad.
I should have taken a picture. Unappetizing mess

Food was delicious, well cooked, well portioned. However service left something to be desired. I understand it's a laid back kind of place, but didn't exactly feel welcome at all. Also send to just have one server on the floor, she was very sweet and did her best to hustle... the circumstances simply did not set her up for success.

This is a MUST visit restaurant! And their rarebit burger is the bomb!💣 I've always had a wonderful meal here and great service. But I suggest that you try not to be seated in the bar area. Got much slower service.

When you walk into Maxie's the front wall is papered with numerous awards for their onion rings and they did not disappoint. We enjoyed our meal but thought the price point was slightly high for the value. The onion rings are a GREAT investment however, so go for those.

I eat here 6 or 7 times a year. Alway get great service. Today because of a simple communication problem I got overlooked for 15 minutes or so. Staff was very poligetic and gave me my meal for free. Thanks to the staff and this little hiccup has not changed my mind about give Maxie's more business!

Let me be very clear! Staff was AWESOME!!! Service was GREAT!!! Now, lets get to the point! I saw the prime rib. I ordered the ribeye, my wife got the sirloin. NONE of them are worth the $30.00 plus dollars you are charging!!!!!! That was beyond ridiculous!!! Flavor was average, but again, NONE of it was worth those prices. I have eaten at most "steak houses" in a 100 mile radius of here and this is by far the worst case of over pricing I have ever seen!!!! And the rona virus excuse wont get you outta this one. Des Moines is in beef country!! Either get a new/cheaper vendor or go to a locker and

Just did a curbside order. The Chicken Parmesan was a big sandwich, and had to cut it in half. Tasted Great! I’m already looking forward to lunch tomorrow.

9-26-20 Wedding reception luncheon. Julie (server) was very accommodating. Food was perfect and delivered in a timely manner.
I would recommend Maxie's for your special occasion.

Maxie's Restaurant was pretty empty when we ate there on Saturday. The waitress was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed during our meal. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered appetizers which were the best part of the meal. We took advantage of the happy hour and got wings for $.50 a piece. They were crispy and well seasoned. Even though the rest of the food was ok nothing really stood out like the wings. At this point I don't really see a need to go back. I would definitely give them a try if you find your self looking for a place to eat but I wouldn

The last time I visited Maxie's they were still at the original location on Ingersoll. That must have been the early 1970s. Decided to try them out tonight. now I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. We pretty much had the place to ourselves probably because of the weather.
Ordered the combination breaded veggies ; onion rings, breaded mushrooms, fried pickles & fried green beans. All were hot, crisp and perfectly seasoned.
Dinner was a Rarebit burger and the white cheddar bacon jam Burger. Both burgers were prepared exactly as ordered. all of that plus a couple of glasses of half priced house
