Distress signs in the form of cracks in the brick or the sheetrock, out of alignment doors and sloping floors are common in the expansive clay soils present in the DFW area. So, if you are a homeowner, home buyer or home seller, you want to ensure that these cracks are not signs of foundation distress.
SEG provides failure investigation/ forensic investigation services concerning soil-structure interactions and performance of structural systems. Soil-structure interaction assessments include investigations relating to design and construction of foundations, slope failures and retaining walls.

SEG forensic expertise includes investigations of single-family residences, multi-family apartment/condominium complexes, commercial facilities, as well as retaining walls, screen walls, and swimming pools.SEG principal engineer has provided expert witness testimony in hundreds of medications/arbitrations and court testimony concerning soil structure interactions for residential foundations and retaining wall failures.
SEG has been providing soil testing/geotechnical investigations or sometimes referred to as "soil report" for private and public sector clients in the north Texas area. Soil sampling is performed typically by advancing test borings using a drill rig. The number and depth of the borings depend on the geological formation, the proposed development and the size and complexity of the project.

Ralph by far was the most thorough and professional structural engineer I have dealt with. Very responsive and easy to set-up appointment with, and most importantly a complete report was provided the same evening. He helped us through every phase of our project, which was an extensive kitchen remodel including some structural work. We also had some concerns about our foundation, he checked every step inside & outside the house, provided education about important information as well as recommendations to consider. I have complete confidence he provided quality work at a fair price.
Highly recommended

Ralph is a wonderful resource of knowledge. He can simplify the confusion when it comes to understand a structure and why it failed. He's also educated in geotechnical so he also understands soils and how that affects your foundation. I've read some other reviews (one in particular) and I can't see he being "curt" or hanging up quickly. He's always returned my emails and made sure I had full understanding of my situation. Of course I always treated him with respect and appreciation. I think that goes a long way when you're working with an engineer.

I hired them to do two structural engineering reports. I felt there wasn't much detail to the reports after the work was completed. I needed to clarify with Mr. Mansour over the phone both times, which I don't think should have been necessary.
There was also some confusion regarding what was covered in the cost. When I discovered the discrepancy, the conversation didn't get beyond my non-confrontational statement of confusion before he was very curt and quickly ended the call. Like I said, this is after I'd hired him on two different occasions. I'm very dissatisfied with the experience and the

Ralph is the best at this. I used him on the first home I purchased and have continued to use him again ever since. He is always honest about his opinion. He has suggested to add piers, not add piers, add a french drain, etc over the number of houses showing he doesnt just tell you once catch all solution for every home.

I called Ralph last year for an independent foundation review of the pre-owned home I was buying in a prime location in Irving, and he was able to accommodate me within 2 days. I had checked him out online and on Angies List, and I liked what I saw, so I zoomed in on Ralph. He had a great website as well.
He showed up on time, and he diligently finished his foundation inspection with his gadgets and in 30 min or so, he also explained to me that no issues were there, with his pencil drawing, and he was super friendly, knowledgeable and easy to work with. He promptly sent me the professional foundation
