The "doobie" (a derivative of its original name "tubi") is a process for straightening hair that yields results quite comparable to a chemical relaxer. The name "tubi" comes from the tube-like wrapping process involved in creating luscious bouncy hair. Many African-American women are opting to straighten their hair with the Dominican "doobie" in lieu of adding chemical straighteners to their hair.
After today's press conference with the Governor of Nevada we are being forced to close our doors for at least 30 days to protect our health, our families health and the health of our great customers. As we are not happy about this decision we need to respect it to not worsen this pandemic. I want to thank all of our wonderful customers, new and old, for supporting Dominican Design over the years.

I have been going to Dominican design for close to 3 years and I find Maggie and Ida are the best. My hair has never been healthier and it has grown tremendously and I just love the way it's feel silky and very light afterwards. The salon is stylishly decorated. They are very efficient on sanitizing each area that someone has used following the guidelines during this pandemic. As long as I'm living in Vegas Dominican design is my favorite choice in salons.

I absolutely loved the wash and how my hair turned out. I went in for a wash and roller set with a flat iron. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The only big issue I had was that I felt robbed at the end of my visit. I was told I could be charged 45-65 depending on my hair type. I knew right off I was going to be charged 65 because I have very thick hair. My visit came to 75 because of trimming my ends and a deep condition. I DID NOT ask for a deep condition and was NOT made aware that it would cost extra. I WAS asked for a trim on my ends, but WAS NOT made aware it would cost extra. There

I’ve been going there for years no complaints. Maggie is incredible with hair care. The salon is organized and doesn’t have you waiting around for your appointment. After many negative experiences at other places I value going somewhere that allows me the freedom to plan things around my hair appointment because I know they will be on time and not have me waiting around. My hair has never been healthier or looked better and is longer than ever before!

I was visiting Vegas and looking for a place to wash and set my hair, but due to the texture and length and of my hair a few places I checked out they had a “wow” look when they saw my hair. With a little more research we came across Dominican Design Salon, and lucky they were open, I say that because most salons were closed on Monday’s. Maggie was welcoming and welcomed walk in no problem. Ama washed our hair we got a good scrub and massage and she set the rollers in less than ten minutes, I’ve never seen such speed with rollers.
