CHCP is a Cooperative Preschool for ages 0-5 dedicated to providing a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for our students and families. Teachers and families work together to provide the best environment for a child's education and development through play-based curriculum and parent education.

Community is key at our school and friendships formed here can last a lifetime! Our teachers have years of early childhood education experience and embrace the cooperative, play-based preschool model, social justice education, and celebrating the differences and similarities that make our community so unique!
Services
Capitol Hill Co-op is located on the north end of the vibrant Capitol Hill neighborhood retail core and steps from Volunteer Park. Our spacious facility in the basement of the Trinity Lutheran Church (no affiliation), provides a safe and comfortable space for our classes and community. We have an enclosed outdoor play yard adjacent to the school and utilize Volunteer Park for outdoor exploration in our older classes.
For all of our Co-op Preschool classes, there are a few components that are important to understand. The Co-op model thrives from joint teacher and parent interactions and ownership of the preschool. Each class has a professional teacher as well as expectations on parental involvement, such as "working" in the classroom at least weekly on a schedule appropriate for the age of the children.
Capitol Hill Co-op teachers and parent educators embrace the cooperative, play-based preschool model and are attuned to the developmental needs and stages of each age group. They all possess a "can do" spirit and a desire to build community within the classroom, the teaching team, and the CHCP community as a whole.
Capitol Hill Cooperative Preschool does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin, socioeconomic status, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability. Nestled in the dynamic and historic neighborhood of Capitol Hill, CHCP prioritizes maintaining a diverse membership.
At CHCP we consciously keep tuition low so that more families can access our school. The tuition payments cover the cost to pay our Teachers, our Parent Educator who participates with each class, and our employer taxes.

Each year we rely on our members to raise an additional amount above our tuition costs through a combination of individual donations, company matching funds, and annual fundraising events to cover our rent and facility costs, classroom supplies, field trips, and to fund our Tuition Assistance Program.Throughout the year you'll be notified about fun and impactful chances to support your school!
