Hali'imaile General Store is Chef Bev Gannon's original and most award-winning restaurant and has been a Maui favorite since 1988. Farm-to-Table is not a new concept to us! Chef Bev Gannon has been promoting and featuring locally-sourced Hawaiian produce, meats and products since 1988. Our dishes are a unique blend of fresh Hawaiian flavors, local Asian influences, and modern preparations.

Born in Dallas, Texas, and raised in the Jewish tradition of eat, eat, eat, one of Hawaii's most celebrated chefs, Bev Gannon, reminisces, It's what really got me interested in food and its preparation.

I think it's still what people want: the kind of warm, comforting food that came out of Mom's kitchen provided, of course, that Mom was a good cook! Bev's passion for food combined with her love of island-inspired dishes, is the reason why Bev Gannon has become a culinary powerhouse and has enjoyed ardent followers and critical acclaim across the country.

We booked reservations for Thursday Jan 13. The restaurant closed due to some Covid related reason. Which is understandable. What I can't understand is why no one contacted us to tell us they would be closed. I mean common decency would say that you notify people that your closing.

Off the beaten path in Hali'imale, you come to a plantation look of a building. Very nice place and the service was great but the food was ok. The mahi mahi was a bit dry. Coconut seafood curry is mediocre. The better meals of the night was the roasted Meyer lemon chicken and their signature HGS deluxe wagyu cheeseburger. Too pricey for the quality of the food. Not impressed at all.

Very long wait for food, Covid staff shortages?
Lemongrass coconut cocktail was delicious, crab-shrimp cake was good. Lunch salads and entrées ~ $25, entree alone was enough to fill me and my friends tummies. Food is American, not Hawaiian.
15 minutes from airport and parking was available.

We've come to this restaurant every time we've come to Maui, third time now! And over the years the one dish that I come back for is the sashimi napoleon. It's to die for--for five of us, we ordered two and next time I will order one for myself as my entree.

This is also the third time in a row that we had the macadamia crusted mahi mahi and next time I will not get it. As my friend says, mahi mahi is the chicken breast of fish.

The place continues to have great atmosphere, great service, and that sashimi napoleon!

Great atmosphere, watermelon salad was to die for, the sashimi was creative and the pineapple desert was superb! Our server was great - she told us about herself and her husband and why they had chosen to live in Maui…

I like HGS for special occasions - especially holidays. In the last year, I came here for both Easter and Thanksgiving. I did the Easter brunch and Thanksgiving dinner. Easter was fantastic - they even decorated their Christmas tree with cute Easter eggs. Thanksgiving was not as good, given the prix fixed menu, and strange service. We were told we couldn't get any of our food to go, despite other tables having to-go boxes, which was odd. When we pointed that out, they allowed us to take our food to go. It was very strange given

Service was excellent, both the greeter and server were super friendly and amazing hospitality vibe. Generous portion sizes, and the poke was phenomenal. Fresh fish on my salad was overcooked and dry.
This place is definitely popular and would recommend reservations if you are planning to arrive later in the lunch service or for dinner.

What started as a mere suggestion by our pineapple farm tour operator resulted in a tasty lunch featuring savory local dishes. From the outside, this doesn't appear to be a restaurant given its appearance as a "General Store;" however, once you step inside all doubts are immediately cast aside.

Upon walking we were quickly greeted and promptly seated at the bar. The inside wasn't especially packed for a late weekday morning, nonetheless there were patrons. The bar is an impressive display of domestic and imported hard liquors, licores, wine, and spirits. Our lovely server handed

Foodie lovers take note .. this is a great place not close to the main resorts .. food and cocktails are superb and you are likely to get a reservation where you won’t find any available at the resort area restaurants. Highly recommend it

We absolutely love Haliimaile General Store and have eaten here many times. We always have to start with Bev's world famous crab dip pizza. Today we had the macadamia nut crusted mahimahi and spicy Ono tacos, both delicious. For dessert each of us ordered something different: lemon pound cake strawberry shortcake; chocolate mousse with chocolate cake and chocolate crumbles; pineapple upside-down cake with vanilla ice-cream. Fabulous! This nationally award-winning restaurant is well worth the trip to upcountry Maui - make a reservation so you are not disappointed and turned away!

We stopped to watch the glassblowing and look throw the art. We ended up having lunch at the general store. The food was really good, fish tacos were nice, salad fresh, chicken good and ahi was good as well. The tea was very good.

Our server, Jennifer, was excellent. We arrived for our 5 pm reservation, as did about 10 other tables of diners, and Jennifer managed her tables impeccably in spite of us all arriving at the same time. Impressive!
Our drinks, Tai Mai and Maui Mule were outstanding. The Tai Mai won their bartender first prize and I see why. Fresh lilikoi juice and rums, and very well balanced. The Maui Mule was excellent as well...

Fine dining menu, with an unpretentious name and atmosphere. We got a reservation here at the recommendation of… some locals we ran into the night before, and it did not disappoint. One of the most unique items on the menu is the crab pizza appetizer - it was amazingly delicious! The macadamia nut crusted mahi-mahi was tender, flakey and delicious. Our cocktails were well crafted as well.

Just stopped in for lunch. We didn't have a reservation but we checked in for first available seating. We only had to wait 15 minutes for seating at the bar.

The bar is a great place for lunch because we like to talk to the bartender and other people at the bar. Wendy the bartender was great! She was really friendly and very fast. When she had a little extra when she made drinks, she made sure to give us all a little taste. That's so nice because then you would know what you wanted to order next.

So much fun! Perfect place to slip away and get a traditional breakfast or lunch. And any lil shopping you may need for the folks back home! There's a TON of these ABC stores all over the Island but this one is my favorite. They also have a coffee shop! Food can be pricey on Maui but this place is very affordable!

This meal was amazing! The food was so delicious and fresh. The setting was also awesome with tons of art from local artists adorning the walls and glass fixtures from the glass blowing studio right across the street. Our waitress Bianca was so kind and helpful explaining the different wine and food options. I got the coconut seafood curry and it was so creamy and full of flavor. My husband has the BBQ short rib and it was cooked perfectly. For dessert we split the love in a jar and it was delicious. Highly recommend HSG for anyone visiting upcountry.

Had my birthday dinner with my family. My kids paid for the dinner. The food and dessert was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant. Our friend was the Executive Chef. Thank you to Rheydon and his staff! You really did an excellent job for our first time eating there.

Everything that chef Bev Gannon creates is simple perfection. We had a few appetizers including the watermelon salad, the duck buns and the famous crab pizza, and for entrees we had the chicken bake and the macadamia encrusted Mahi mahi with mashed taros. My husband thought this is the best food we have ever had. We sat outside in a nice outdoors tent in the garden, and the service was great!!!

Looking for a place to eat in upcountry Maui? Make a reservation and eat here. This place is one of the pioneers of pan Asian cuisine and doesn't disappoint.

Came here mid-September 2021 and they asked for proof of Covid vaccine when we checked in, so keep that in mind. I'm not sure the alternative if you don't have proof, so call to find out.

White bean soup: Classic flavors with tender white beans. It was nice to get something warm, but it was a touch on the salty side and amount didn't warrant the price for me.

I made resos at this place as the reviews were great! Firstly the service was top notch. No complaints there at all. We were greeted warmly and asked if we had reservations. The vaccine validation process was easy. We are from Canada so our vaccine doc isn’t the same but was still accepted. The food however was just ok. The fish coconut curry had potential but tasted watered down. The fish in the fish tacos was shredded and over cooked. It was under seasoned as well. Not much flavor. The crab cake wasn’t bad but the tartar sauce overpowered it. The slaw was decent. Overall the food was just

Decided to hit this place for dinner given the hype. Overall impression was the place was good but not worth the drive or the price point.

For apps we got the crab pizza (overrated, not a lot of crab flavor and fairly bland) and the duck bao buns (easily the best item we got).

The entrees we got the seafood coconut curry and the short ribs. The curry had a nice coconut flavor and was a nice thick creamy curry. The shrimp tails were on which was annoying. The fish was bland. The short rib was good but nothing really special that makes it stand out from any other short rib I've eaten.

We had the watermelon salad, crab pizza, coconut seafood curry and the macadamia encrusted catch. All of the food was delicious as were the cocktails. I would have given a 5 star but they seated us outside in a tent. I was freezing the entire time! They offered blankets but I was in a small dress and was a little sunburned so it didn't help. I really wanted to experience the interior so that was a disappointment. The service was excellent however and our server Vinny was wonderful!

What I enjoyed the most was their service, from reception who willing do a double check if they have inside table instead of outside , to server Ed gave a amazing service from introduced meun, check on table, let me know the wait, to make sure he wish us happy birthday. He is amazing. I don't know what else I could ask for.

We thought the food was very good! I ordered the paniolo ribs & my mate ordered the noodle bowl with ahi, I do have to say the Ahi was probably the best I have ever tasted.. there was no tendons in the fish at all which a wonderful thing!
Now the atmosphere wasn't the greatest.. saying that I did request to sit outside, however I didn't think I would have a view of Quonset hut buildings for an establishment that is supposed to upscale!
