We're excited you have found us and we hope we can help you! Like many of our other patients, you may be unhappy with your C-PAP machine or you may suffer from daytime sleepiness, insomnia, morning headaches or high blood pressure. Perhaps your loud snoring is keeping your loved one up all night? The good news is WE CAN HELP!

At Northwest Dental Sleep Center, we treat sleep apnea and snoring with a customized appliance that is worn in the mouth. This opens up the airway making it easier for you to breathe while you sleep. Our approach is made with a neuromuscular emphasis, which means we take into account where the muscles of the jaw are most relaxed.
Services
Dr. Carroll has practiced general dentistry for over 25 years with advanced training in neuromuscular dentistry from the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). This is where she learned how to manage headaches, TMJ issues, full mouth reconstructions and sleep apnea appliances.

A long time resident of Washington, she got her biology degree from the University of Washington and her dental degree from the University of Southern California in 1987.It was at LVI that I learned the importance of muscle function in treating these conditions successfully. There are differences amongst us dentists in how we make sleep apnea appliances.
Often in dentistry, we forget that the mouth is connected to the rest of the body and become tooth mechanics, neglecting the impact we have on the rest of the body. Dr. Taylor holds a BS in molecular and cellular biology from UC Santa Barbara and her DDS from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco.
Sleep apnea is a disorder that causes you to stop breathing while you are sleeping, thus the term apnea, which means halted breath. In some cases, the breathing is simply shallower, while in other cases, it is completely shut off. This interruption or difficulty with your breathing could occur once or a hundred times per night and vary in the length of time that you do not breathe.
Before you head to the doctor to talk about your sleep issues, there are a few self-assessments you can do at home to help you determine your need to get evaluated. After you go through the general concerns, if you answer yes to most of the questions, it is time to seek help. These questions were derived from The Epworth Sleep Apnea test, which was created in 1991 by Dr. Murray Johns.
The dentists at Dental Sleep Northwest can play a large role in the treatment of your sleep apnea. Whether you have tried CPAP and it did not work, or you simply want a less invasive treatment method, we can help. Our oral appliance therapy is a non-invasive and effective method to treat sleep apnea.
