City Sprouts Preschool is a nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can explore, grow, and discover through individual and collaborative experiences. Our integrated community values each child as unique with a program that cultivates imagination and a love of learning. City Sprouts Preschool is a Reggio Emilia inspired, emergent curriculum school located in the Outer Sunset of San Francisco.

We offer full day, partial or full week programs for children in a large developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor space. We value the entire learning process, and the idea that children learn best through play. Children are given the opportunity to learn and build meaningful relationships while engaging in open-ended play, and the ability to guide the curriculum with their interests and ideas.

Children have an innate curiosity, sense of wonder and a strong desire to learn. They are very capable of creating their own learning path driven by their interests, their interactions with others and the environment around them. City Sprouts Preschool's philosophy is inspired by several theorists and is strongly influenced by the Reggio Emilia Approach.
Rebecca Cullinan graduated from UC Davis in 2015 with a bachelor of science in Human Development and a minor in Education. She furthered her career development through working in multiple preschools as well as a kindergarten classroom and spent 2 years as an intern at the lab school for UC Davis. There, she learned to design curriculum and lead the toddler classroom.
At City Sprouts Preschool, the days are fluid and go where the children's interests lead, so each day can be different. The setup of each developmental area changes weekly or biweekly to support their interests and spark new thinking. The general layout is as follows:. Parents are encouraged to take their time with drop off and allow their child an easy transition into the day.
City Sprouts Preschool accepts children into the preschool program starting at 2 1/2 years old (or upon readiness). The toddler program accepts children starting at 18 months old. Children may attend two, three or five full days a week. We do not expect children to be potty trained for either program in order to attend, and will assist with the potty training process when the child is ready.
All applications received after this date will be placed in a waiting pool to be drawn from if space is available after the initial enrollment period. We do not accept early applications before the child is ready to attend, in order to give all prospective families and children an equal opportunity.
