Heartworm is a silent killer that often goes unnoticed until the disease is well advanced.

My 26 (now 8) adopted senior, chronically ill, and disabled rescue cats have been their clients since Coronado opened on Rt. 528. They are my go-to veterinary practice except for emergencies after hours and the need for specialists. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and have good interpersonal skills to make you feel empathetically understood. While all the veterinarians are excellent, my primary doc for my cats is Dr. Jennifer Smith who knows all my fur babies and checks in with about them. I wouldn't change working with Coronado.

Our family dog passed away and the people were very nice however I didn’t appreciate my dogs collar being cremated without even being asked if we wanted it. Since we were unaware we have to request it, it would extremely helpful if staff can offer that as an option before taking the pet. My entire family is heart broken that we didn’t receive the collar and that we didn’t even know about that rule, we wanted to have a set up with her ashes, photo, with her collar.

I chose Coronado to be my new vet clinic because it was closer to my new home. My dog had an appointment with them which would have established her as a new patient. But my dog had an emergency. The first time… I called to get help, they referred me to some ER clinics in the area. I started calling these places and I was shocked to learn that there is a current ER shortage. There aren’t enough emergency vets and they are turning sick patients away. I called Coronado back a few days later and asked if they were aware the places they referred me to, were denying care. Coronado is aware

This vet had committed to giving my dog an appointment which would have established her as a new patient. However, my dog had an emergency and due to a current shortage of emergency vets could not be seen by emergency clinics. This vet who agreed to be her provider, turned her away repeatedly in her hour of need. A more caring clinic in town agreed to see her in what turned out to be a severe case of pancreatitis. This vet absolutely needs to either close their clinic to new patients or hire more vets. They can not meet the needs of their patients. They feel it is an acceptable policy that they

Dr. Jennifer Smith is an amazing vet, so compassionate and professional! She has been so good to my kitties! Bella is absolutely thriving under her care. Carly and the entire staff is fantastic. I would recommend over & over.

I started out with 5 stars, but needed to revise it. I will be writing 2 reviews here. My initial revenue and a follow up review. My 10 year old Pomeranian was dying of a collapsed trachea. It is common in this breed and I had a similar experience with another Pomeranian years ago. She clearly was suffering and her body was shutting down. I contacted the Coronado Animal Hospital and they told to come right down and call when I arrived. I was shown in and Dr. Wilson was so wonderful. She agreed that there was nothing more we could do and assisted my baby to over the other side. The rainbow bridge

Coronado Pet Hospital is the best. Dr. Smith and Dr. Melloy are knowledgeable, kind, and take care of the pet owners with the same compassion and love as they do the animals. The techs and staff show the same kindness and efficiency. Over the years, I have entrusted them with the care of 5 of my dogs and always received the very best of care.

We had to have our 14 1/2 year old long haired chihuahua euthanized. The staff did whatever they could to make us and our dog as comfortable as possible, everything considered. The process was quick and painless for our dog. However, what happened afterwards is what motivated us to write this post. We had requested to receive her ashes and a paw… print. Little did we know that we were presented with a gift bag, containing her ashes in a carved, wooden box, her paw print was not really a print but an indenture inside of a folio, a seed to plant and a card. In addition, we received a handwritten

The staff are so great, very kind to owners and caring to pets. It's rare to find great customer service with staff these days-but here they are great at it. I also thought I was going to have to pay a lot because it's a full service hospital but it was more reasonably priced than some other places.

This vet may be a little pricey than others, but the feeling you get when you walk in is amazing. The vets have been friendly and open and have disclosed all the costs associated with everything they have. Carly is one of my favs and now she likes to give me grieve because I feed my pup a slice of bacon and he was sick the next day. I probably won’t live it down.

I needed to see a vet asap on the northwest/rio rancho area and they seemed to be the only place open answering their phone line after 5:30 pm, after talking with them the urgency decreased, i rescheduled more than once and had a family member take my puppy to her appt, the staff was great assisted with paper work and relaying information unknown to my family member, I recommend them and will see them again as needed.

This week my 2.5 year old German Shepherd Dog, Velvet, became very sick suddenly. I was able to get her in promptly to be seen by Dr. Jennifer Smith. Velvet had a very strange condition that neither of the vets there were able to determine a cause for. After two days of care the difficult but necessary decision to euthanize Velvet became apparent. I want to thank the staff for their caring and compassionate attitude during this awful time in my life.

From the time I called to make my appt, to when Dr.Smith called me to follow up with my dog's test results, I was shown courtesy and respect. When I called to make the appointment the gentleman on the phone was so nice and welcoming, happy I called. I am new to the area. I was 10 minutes late trying to find the clinic- totally my fault. I called in route asking if I should reschedule. No no, they were understanding and told me they'd wait. I have 2 dogs. I made 2 appointments back to back bringing them both in. One to establish with the doctor and get a refill of heartworm prevention
