Emerald Leaf Counseling is a counseling and consulting office for someone like you who wishes to learn more about yourself and grow. It's also a place to figure out effective solutions to challenges in your life. During your session, we will talk, look at problems from different perspectives, and explore what your thoughts and emotions mean.

I use creative ways to help you look at what's inside of you, such as writing exercise, mindfulness, and art making. Because these alternative ways quiet your analytical side, we get to hear what your true self is trying to tell you. Emotions such as sadness and anxiety have important messages for us.
Services
Depression and anxiety make us feel like we are not in charge of our own lives. When this happens, we feel lost and wonder if we can ever feel better. These symptoms can also happen to us when we experience losses in life. In counseling, we will work on getting a better understanding of how your unhelpful thoughts trap you in negative feelings.
I am an artist and a therapist. I use creativity, observation skills, and psychological theories to help you understand why you feel, think, and behave in certain ways. Your feelings are trying to say something to you---I'd be glad to partner with you and figure out what they mean. Many of us feel more empowered when we know more about ourselves.
I am in-network provider for Medicare, Cigna, Care First, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Anthem PPO. I am also a certified out-of-network provider for Humana Tricare. If you have any of these insurances, I will bill them directly for your counseling session. You will pay the copay (or deductible if you have any) on the day of your appointment.
Intracultural practice (i.e., working with clients from the same ethnic/racial group of the therapist) for marginalized art therapists brings different sets of challenges from Caucasian-to-Caucasian intracultural practice. The lecture focuses on encounters between Asian therapists and Asian clients as examples in order to examine intracultural dynamics and the effects of societal oppression in art therapy.
