Renting from Ted and his VIP Inc. pinheads was the worst experience I have ever had. I fought with Ted to get our cleaning deposit back since the apartment was never cleaned before we moved in (which he admitted he had lied about). VIP also lost the checks we gave them for our first months rent (they were money orders so we ended up having to pay fees to cancel them) and VIP blamed us and said we must have never turned them in. Ted can talk to you for hours about how great VIP is but when there is an issue he will ignore you for however long he feels. Our landlord fired VIP from managing our triplex

I believe in a time where businesses can staff as needed this group would get five stars. My family were great tenants and we followed the letter of the lease. Brandon was very respectful. This was the first time in my life we were able to get our full deposit back. The only real issue we had was it took some time for some of the repair. They are short staffed, and when they were able to get someone out it was always fixed. Thank you for helping us into a great home!

VIP represented a commercial property I was interested in. Meeting to tour the space was easy, and I submitted my application shortly after. Unfortunately Ted was impossible to get a hold of via email or phone. I feel uncomfortable knowing I submitted an application with all my personal data and have no idea how it is stored or who has access to my application. Bummer, was so excited to get in this great location only to deal with a non responsive property management company.

My first encounter with Ted by phone was a great phone conversation. The second conversation was when I called to see where he was for our meeting time that I only showed up to and not him. Long story short, this guy is VERY rude, spoke to me In a condescending tone as if I was his child, and flat out didn’t care of the interaction in my opinion. I haven’t looked at his reviews until now, and see that others actually experienced the same which says ALOT. Soooooo glad things played out as it did cause the very next day, I found a WAY BETTER place, got approved and got my keys in the same day

I have a theory that most people who take time to leave reviews are the ones who have bad experiences. I've had a 9-10 experience with VIP in my 8 months living here. This is an impartial and honest review: Pros: 1. Fixed washer and dryer immediately after they broke. 2. They are flexible with occasional late rent payment if you reach out to them at let them know before the 1st of the month 3. I was skeptical given the reviews, but gave this a chance because I loved the house. I always received prompt maintenance, never had an issue when it came time to move out either. I needed some extra time to get my move out completed and clean the house, of which Ted and Brandon were more than happy to accommodate for. I received my deposit back in the mail and had no complaints. The office staff were always personable and professional. Thank you VIP!

What a bad person who should be shut down for good and put out of business.
I must say, some people have the morals of sewer rats and Ted is by far no different. He and his "staff" are rude, condescending, pushy and flat out disturbing. Ted reminds me of some old lady who wants things her way or no way. Ted will lie in order to get his way, charge fees on top of fees for one reason or another. Do your self a favor, run from this guy as fast as you can and do not engage. You're better off in the long run.

Ted Vogelphol belongs in jail. I am a disabled veteran with an autistic son. We cannot afford to have someone stealing what little we have and yet Ted Vogelphol, under the guise of friendship, stole our deposit money after reassuring me repeatedly, in front of witnesses, of how clean the rental was and how they would need to do next to nothing to rent the unit. I'm writing just on our move in experience. Ted was informative and helpful. He seems to care about his tennants. We were able to split our security deposit across two months which was a lifesaver for 20-somethings trying to make ends meet. One star off I think is out of Ted's control because someone else owns our building but some of the issues we wanted addressed before move in were not taken care of.

Impressed! This company is efficient, professional, timely and personable. After reading the reviews,I found it odd that at the time of the execution of leases, the past tenants shared shared great experiences that they did not take the time to write about. It appears that after time has past and they move, and whatever else in between, everything seems to go bad. My family and I had a great experience viewing a property last week. Wanted to give Gresham residents plagued by the current rental crisis a heads up: By no means should you execute a lease with V.I.P. Property Management and Ted Vogelpohl. Fortunately, my wife and I became aware of his lengthy and 100% accurately described sociopathic behavior during the paperwork signing for what was to be our new home for the next year. I signed a lease with Ted just recently. Walking into his office, I was already aware of the reviews online. One thing I will say is this: People are 7 times more likely to share bad experiences than they are good experiences. Personally, I share both. Ted has his routine and appears to have done the process of signing a lease enough times to know what it entails. I also liked the cartoon and some added humor in there. I have lived several places, and rented from several companies, but I have never received more disrespect than I received from this company. Daniele has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I called last week to rent a house, my rental history is ok, I make ok money, but Daniele treated me like I was trailer trash. I called back a day later and she hung up the phone on me. Not to mention Ted, the owner, isn't even licensed in the state of Oregon to be a property manager. They want to creep around your property illegally when you're not there, call you and scream at you for not tending the yard to their liking, threaten to sue you, and otherwise belittle you. I read these reviews and rented from Ted anyways because I was in a jam. I REGRET THAT DECISION. He will say anything to make you think he is going to help you out. The office does not respond to emails. They barely respond to phone calls. When they do respond, be prepared to be treated like you're some dead beat renter.
When they sent my left over deposit, they sent it to the rental home that I had just vacated. HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE. Yes they did have my forwarding address, but they would have to check their email for that. I had to break my lease early, so on November 1st I payed

The owner of the company was very very helpful when we were first moving in. However, when it comes to getting anything repaired or fixed in the home, it takes weeks and weeks for anyone to respond. Then as soon as someone does respond, it will take a few more weeks until you hear from the repair man. Their customer service is absolutely unacceptable for a business. Had I known this before hand, we would have most definitely went with another company. I am hoping those of you who are thinking about using this company proceed with caution. Was happy at first, seemed to understand all of the pain in moving and what not. Although when it came time for needed maintenance, such as a leaking gas stove, or water leaking inside the place from clogged gutters, all changed...I now see why this company has gone through multiple name changes in the last few years. There isn't an attorney in pdx that hasn't had to deal with this company. I'd find another reputable place to either lease from, or use as a property management co.
