Managing partner, founder and principal of MJP Management, Mark is also an operating partner of NW Ventures Group. He is a native Oregonian with an extensive history of developing, constructing and managing residential and commercial properties in the greater Portland area. In 2007, Mark founded MJP Management after years of co-managing a previous property management company.

Mark received a B.A. in Economics from Macalaster College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mark's wife and four children keep him happily occupied. Alex has utilized his industry experience to direct all of MJP's marketing for over 6 years. He is the primary point of contact for MJP's prospective property owners and is in charge of all property and company advertising.

We turn to our fine-tuned set of policies and procedures we've developed from years of professionally managing rental property. Our management team and in-house maintenance staff are capable of handling any concern that may arise with your property. MJP's management fee structure is refreshingly simple: we charge one all-inclusive fee taken from gross rental income.

Never was so kind during our video tour and was very helpful. She turned on the faucets, checked how hot the water got, sent over room measurements, And so much more. After Never, we were in communication with Laurie! Always professional and responsive, made us feel very comfortable during the entire process! It’s always nerve racking when trying to rent but this company makes it so easy and always willing to explain more!

I had a pretty smooth move in transition. Laurie from MJP was super helpful and very responsive and kept me update with any changes. I think they were real about all of the costs and I appreciate the breakdown of the process and full transparency from this company. So far, no complaints!

I worked with Laurie for my move-in process. Given that we are living through very rough times (understaffed industries all around), I had a very positive experience with MJP in general. They do not enforce any rules, smokers from apartments above throw lit cigarettes onto our porch. Noise ordinances not a thing here. Water damaged moldy hell holes

I have been renting from MJP for almost a year and a half, and have had nothing but positive experiences! On the rare occasion when I need maintenance done on my unit, they are incredibly responsive and typically fix it within 1-2 business days. I’ve never had such a good experience with a property manager, and have thoroughly enjoyed renting from them.

I just moved into an apartment managed by them. On my move-in date, as I entered the apartment, everything was filthy from the previous tenants. Clearly, no one had checked to make sure the apartment was cleaned properly. Urine stains all over the toilet and ground, the microwave, fridge, and cupboards with food stains and crumbs all over... the list goes on and on.

Emailing with anyone who works there requires patience - days worth. I messaged them, asking that my security deposit be returned to me since I had to do all the cleaning, but I did not get a response until after I had cleaned the

I’ve had good experiences with MJP which is why I continue renting from them. I’ve rented at 5 of their properties over the past 10 years or so as our family has grown and we’ve moved in and out of the Portland area. They are fair, reasonable, and have properties in convenient locations. My grandmother also rented with MJP and loved talking to the guys (Mark and one other) all the time and they were always so kind and patient with her. Took weeks to get back to me about an apartment. I called and filled out their online form multiple times. When they finally did contact me back all they did was tell me an email address to email in order to inquire more info. They took several days to respond to that email only to tell me that the property has been leased out. It's been several more days and that property is STILL on their website saying it is available. They are terrible at communicating and the fact that the apartment is still up after its already been leased out seems SUPER sketchy.

All I can say is the only thing they are good at is astounding me with their amazing capability to do this job so badly. Terrible, incompetent, mind-blowingly worthless managers. Essentially, they seem to feel their only job is collecting money for the owners. It took me a week to get anyone to answer my calls and emails about the building (they had the wrong number on their site), and the leasing agent knew not one thing about the building, not even the prices. Their answer to everything is no, we can't, we won't. So many problems on a daily basis in this "new construction"

When we moved into our apartment, the apartment was filthy, doors were broken, holes in the walls, missing door stops, the "back yard" was full of trash, broken fence and I can go on. In a time of COVID, moving into a dirty apartment was absolutely unacceptable yet they took over 3 weeks to send a cleaning crew. We sent pictures of the dirt and grime and still no response.

After living here for two months, I took a bath and water starting pouring from the ceiling. I called the emergency maintenance line and STILL no response.

My friend has been renting an MJP property for over 8 years. They have seen multiple issues go unaddressed over the years, including a rat infestation that they were forced to deal with on their own. As of the time of this writing, they have had raw sewage leaking into their basement for over a week, and MJP has sent a team of two out who drained it and called it fixed without actually addressing the leak. Instead of following up, they sent someone out to power wash the moss off of the front of the duplex because they're getting ready to rent out the other side. Every time my friend contacts

Not a good experience when trying to rent a condo. I felt the leasing rep who showed me the condo wasn't very professional. She was quick to respond and get it over with. It took a full week to get through the screening process with no updates from anyone along the way which was a new one for me. I had to send a long e-mail expressing my concern to get someone to give me an update. They called my employer and asked about my "job performance" and sent book long questionnaires to my previous landlords. I have a good record so I wasn't expecting anything bad but last I had checked

I have been a commercial tenant in the Standard Dairy building for 14 years - we have really loved both of the spaces we have had in the building and have appreciated the responsiveness of MJP in the very few instances we have had any issues. Building and common areas generally well maintained and the tenants around us are quiet and friendly. Cannot beat the location!

Wish you could give 0 starts.

Numerous safety risks including 1.5 ft by 2 ft HOLE in bottom of bathroom cabinet that drops to basement. Big enough for our baby to crawl into!!!!

Didn't clean property before move in. Blamed it on us wanting to to in quickly.

Heater not functioning, no hot water in shower, sink leaking, brown water from faucets and on and on and on. Unacceptable. Avoid this company at all costs.

Arrived at the agreed upon time for an apartment showing. The representative had apparently left 30 minutes prior. Ok, a bit annoying since I burned an hour round trip coming out from work, but not too out of the ordinary, mistakes happen. But when I called the front desk to figure out what was going on, I'm accused of being 30 mins late and the bimbo behind the phone doesn't listen, just tells me that I was supposed to be there 30 mins earlier and the company had the time right. My experience with MJP has been terrible.

I am currently renting with them and have a feeling this review will cost me my deposit. I'll respond if it does.

If you are a tenant looking at an MJP property, my suggestion would be to look elsewhere. I'd advise the same for property owners.

Here's why:

When I signed the lease, paid my deposit and was planning to move in, the called and said there was a $300 move in fee. That had not previously been discussed, but it didn't seem unreasonable so I paid it and went on with things.

Worst property management company ever!!!!

They act like hipsters but treat their properties like slum lords.

We had many issues regarding black mold, our furnace breaking, our doors having huge gaps in them that would allow vermin in, and many other issues. We were forced to fix a lot of problems ourselves because they always hire super cheap, shady maintenance men that usually leave a huge mess after they "fix" the issue.

Anytime we had an issue we called in and if we were lucky to actually get them on the phone they were very rude and unhelpful. Tristan is particularly awful

Stay away. You've been warned.

Lived here for 6 years. When noisy neighbors moved in, they refused to do anything.

When we moved out because of it, they tried to keep the entire security deposit. When I threatened legal action, suddenly they paid it back.

When I went in to get the check, they had the available apartments listed on a board. Including my old place. At a $600/mo increase.

No wonder they didn't go to bat with me with the noisy neighbors.

Nothing special, they're a mostly hands off type of rental agency. Their clean out standards are a bit over the top however (cleaning out the gutters?) and I await the return of my deposit. To be continued...

They took a very fair amount of my deposit - documented the work they did - which wasn't excessive - and charged me reasonable rates. In my experience they were fair and honest. And fair and honest is a solid four stars among rental agencies.
