Services
In 1945, Milton and Rachel Schmidt founded Schmidt Funeral Home in Brookshire, Texas, with the goal of providing dedicated, compassionate service to the families in the communities they served. Their commitment to immediate service, professionalism and integrity quickly earned their new business a reputation for excellence and these same attributes continue to define the principles of Schmidt Funeral Home today.
Staff members of Schmidt Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors. He graduated from Royal High School in Brookshire and attended Texas A & M University, where he was a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band.
To honor those who have faithfully served our country during times of war and peace, we can assist a veteran's family plan for a simple family funeral or a full military service. We can request military honors at the church service or graveside ceremony, assist the family in obtaining a burial flag and help the family apply for the veteran's grave marker.
Most of us are not prepared to plan and carry out a funeral ceremony for someone we love. And so much of the information available on this critically important subject fails to focus on what is most important: having a personalized, meaningful funeral that helps families and friends begin the healing process of mourning after the death of someone we love.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.

Honestly, the first time we chose to use Schmidt's Funeral Home it was simply due to location and online reviews. We were shell-shocked at the sudden loss of my mother, with half our family living out of state, and we had no idea where to start. The staff at Schmidt treated US like family, and gently guided us through the process, giving us all kinds of options and price points, never pressuring us into something we didn't want. We decided on cremation and a delayed open house memorial to give the family time to gather--and it was perfect.
The second time, it was a no-brainer. We had moved to

My father’s funeral services were held here just last weekend. I found the folks here to be incredibly competent, respectful, kind, and helpful. Their assistance and care was a real positive in a very overwhelming time for my family. Also, I have a genuine appreciation for the staff here for all their help especially on the day of the service: anything we needed they did their very best to provide.

I am responding to the review of Dani Arnold my Aunt, i disagree with your review completely. My brother looked fantastic considering the time between death and the actual service and the funeral home allowed the viewing of him even though he was set to be cremated. The funeral home was very accommodating the entire time opening the doors for everyone and being kind. They followed the exact plan that was set for the day, the immediate family was allowed to view him first and if time permits then the remaining family can view him. Unfortunately for the remaining family the immediate family did take

If I could leave negative stars I would. This place was a complete disgrace. They performed a funeral service for our nephew. His body looked terrible. The services we received we appalling. They treated us like we were criminals. We understand that COVID is terrible but we had elderly family members on oxygen and they hounded them to keep their mask on. Though tears and grief they constantly kept saying to them in load booming voices that they needed to place the mask back over their face. They guarded the door to the room where his body was for viewing like we were going to steal his body and

The staff at Schmidt funeral home we're very professional and very helpful during a difficult time after my fathers death. This was the first time my family had to plan a funeral. They answered all our questions, were never pushy and went the extra mile to get him back home to Iowa. During the visitation when we were saying goodbye to our dad, the staff never pushed us out or rushed us. They let us take our time and we really appreciate it. The staff went the extra mile and kept in constant communication with us. I would highly recommend them.

I would like to reply to the review made by Dani Arnold to this funeral home.
I am the wife of the nephew she refers to,
Let me say by it’s sad how hateful people can be.
The staff did an amazing job and honored all the requests made by me (for mine and my husbands 2 young children who attended the funeral). My husband looked great considering the circumstances, the directors were amazing and kind and very respectful to everyone!
Just because you don’t get your way at a funeral over a month ago does not give you the right to leave nasty reviews to such and amazing place with amazing kind

They listened and accommodated all of our wishes and went above and beyond our expectations. The level of detail and thoughtful care they provided were truly exceptional! Words cannot express how blessed and appreciative our family is for Cyndi and the entire staff and all of their sincere efforts and hard work! Thank you so much for everything!

So let's start after the service of my 4 year old son. We asked during them "selling us" can you transfer my son's ashes to what we want them moved to, they said yes, no problem. So after my son's service I called to arrange the transfer of my son's ashes. They told me " I didn't buy a urn from them, so they wouldn't do so." This is NO JOKE! First we asked because we got an urn made of blown glass for my son, told us no problem. When we paid things changed. Not to mention the customer service was terrible. Only care about the money, not your loved ones.

The entire staff was very professional and compassionate. We worked primarily with Kristina, but many others stepped in when needed: Megan, Cassandra, Erin thank you...They guide you every step of the way. They bring peace and order in a time when your world has been turned upside down due to the loss of a loved one. Thank you! Thank you! One million times...thank you!
