Diane Bosco, Founder and Artistic Director, has been an established hair designer and innovator for over 45 years. During her earlier experience as a a stylist she traveled and educated thousands in the beauty industry, covering many parts of the world. In 1986 Diane opened Hot Waves with the intention of becoming #1 in her community and her mission was accomplished.
Diane Bosco continues to enjoy a very successful career of making people look and feel good about themselves. Thirty-one years, to be exact. The clients ranging from infant to age 94 are loving Hot Waves, 1200 W. Ritner St., feeling good as the location has earned Readers' Choice recognition as the top hair salon.
Maria has helped to build Hot Waves award winning reputation. Highly skilled is how we define this talented Hair Designer and color specialist. Maria works hard to be a mentor to her team members, along with insisting on making her clients feel that their visit to Hot Waves is the best part of their day.

Laura was AMAZING! I went in to take my very dark, outgrown hair and get some blonde highlights added. She took the time to explain everything that she was doing and made sure I felt comfortable with every step. Not once did Laura make me feel like I was rushing her or asking for too much. She made me feel like I was priority number one, even stayed late for me. Not to mention the fantastic job she did to my hair! I am in love with how it turned out, and it was a very challenging process! Her attentiveness, the environment, and the genuine staff have just created a lifelong customer out of me!

Called to schedule an appointment. The woman took all my information and said someone would reach out to me to schedule and never heard anything. Called back twice and received no answer the first time. The second time someone answered and apologized and said someone will be reaching out to me to schedule and again, no one ever called. Super bummed bc they had great reviews and so close to where I live.

I'm pretty happy with my blowout from Dina! Not only was it super easy to schedule fairly last minute (a couple of days before the event), but they were open on Sundays, parking right out front unmetered was a cinch AND the price was right.
I have super thick, longer hair, so it wound up being the "and up", but still pretty reasonable!
Also, I'll admit I left it in waaaay longer than I should've, and there were STILL some curls by the time I washed.
The look wasn't as full of volume as I've gotten before elsewhere, but that's actually what I wanted,

My daughter needed a trim and this salon is in the neighborhood so I figured to give it a try. My first encounter was with Luke that scheduled my daughter's appointment. First impressions mean everything and Luke is awesome. The staff is so pleasant. Kathleen was efficient and my daughter's hair looks great. This was a great experience.

I was in a pinch and needed an eyebrow wax. I normally head into Center City which I have been doing for years and ended up spending a lot with not a lot to be desired. I tried Hot Waves and stopped in without an appointment and was seen right away by Nicole who did an incredible job! She was quick and so thorough and it only cost me 13 dollars which is MUCH less than other salons in Philly. Definitely recommend this salon for your waxing needs!!

I've been coming to Hot Waves for the past few years and have always been impressed with the high quality of work and great prices of this salon.
Since moving to New York recently, it's been almost impossible to find a quality and welcoming hair salon that doesn't break the bank. That being said, I made a stop at Hot Waves this week when I was in town to get a much overdue cut and color to my split-end and dull hair. Like always, they did not disappoint!
I used to go to a former stylist who no longer works there so I was nervous of trying a new stylist. My sister recommend

Being from a small town and having the same lady cut and style my hair for over twenty years made me a bit hesitant to trust anyone else. When I moved to Philly I decided to take a leap of faith and make an appointment at Hot Waves. SO glad I did. Nicole is absolutely wonderful and I never have an issue getting an appointment. She listens to what I want while still adding her own touches. From a basic hair cut to styling my hair for a holiday event, I've been completely satisfied with her talent! Great gal, great place!

I visited for a haircut. The staff was super friendly and professional, and my hairdresser introduced herself with a handshake, which I always appreciate. She listened (and followed!) my requests and we had a nice conversation. A cozy and inviting salon (not too swanky, but I prefer that). Definitely recommended!

I sent my wife here for her birthday, we have such a hard time with hair salons in this city. They took her at the last minute even though they were busy without a problem. When she came home her hair looked great, Linda did an excellent job with the cut and color. My wife ranted and raved about how much she loved the way she straitened her hair "perfect" with a blow dryer. The only reason for 4 stars is because my wife went in there with a certain vision and they completely talked her out of it saying it wouldn't look right and I don't know if it was because it would be

I've lived in south Philly all of my life and never went to Hot waves. This week I decided to give it a try. I've been on a quest for a platinum highlights with a Carmel base. Easy right? Wrong until now!! Megan did my hair. She was beyond attentive and helpful. Megan actually listened got an idea of what I wanted and HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK!! She is so talented and just all around amazing. The price was so reasonably especially in comparison to these trendy salons. I can't say enough about Hot Waves and Meagan. But, I'll end by saying I'm beyond thrilled with my hair

Dina really listened to what I wanted and even though I had never colored my hair and was nervous it turned out perfect. They have great specials and are so affordable but with great quality! They even have their own hair product line made with quinoa and coconut oil. I love that I now have a neighborhood place to get my hair cut. 68 bucks for cut highlights glaze and blow dry- yes please! February special for a limited time! They also give you a cute welcome pack and offer you coffee. Love the service!

I made an appointment here on a whim after my old stylist moved out of the city.
I came into the salon with a head of hair that was full of split ends, grown out layers and old color and walked out with a fabulous cut and new color job. Meghan was my stylist and she listened to all of my concerns and is fantastic. I've been back a few times since then for touch ups and blow-outs. All of the services have been top notch.
Highly recommend!

I am usually picky regarding hair salons, However I instantly loved this place. Not only is it very affordable, Its extremely clean and the atmosphere is great. The staff is also very friendly and awesome. I had my hair and makeup done for my wedding here, and get my hair cut here as well. I usually see Dina, and she does a great job. She takes her time, and is a perfectionist when it comes to doing hair. Would definitely recommend going here.
