Ordered potstickers, orange beef and a noodle dish with pork and shrimp. Potstickers ok, the best of all we ordered. Other two dishes were a gloppy mess, noodle dish flavorless and mushy and orange beef featured thin slabs of leathery meat in a sauce that was over-the-top sweet. This is the second time I've tried Tang's, both times disappointing. They've been around forever and I'm sure this review won't inspire any changes in the kitchen. But I won't be back.

The chicken in the fried rice tasted like cardboard, the rice was bland, no color, a couple of vegetables. The 2 dollar a piece eggroll tasted like wasabi. The sweet and sour chicken was soggy and too oily. The chicken in the egg foo young also tasted like hard cardboard. The only thing okay with the order was the gravy in the egg foo young.

Amazing Food
I have a hard time finding good Mandarin Chinese food and I am glad I found Tang's when I moved to Grayslake 25 years ago. Tired of "red" sweet and sour sauce and they have dishes like Moo Shu. The egg rolls are great, all of noodle dishes. My kids and husband eat the spicy items and beef. Take out service is fast and friendly!! Portions are always large and at least 2 meals in one order so remember that when looking at price.

Food was ok, portions are insanely huge for some odd reason. I'm talking a 8" plate of rice that was 5" high. I got some General Tso Chicken and my plate was so full I couldn't even eat off it without knocking over the entire thing. It took almost an hour to get our food, even though there was only 1 other table besides us. Probably won't be coming back as I'm not from the area and wanted to try something new out. Only positive is the food was super hot off the kitchen, was steaming and couldn't even eat it for a minute after being served. Threw away the left

Tangs has been around for 21 years, that is something. The kitchen has been on and off over the years. It is nicely remodeled with booths and one table has a lazy susan for large parties to share entrees. The take-out business is really flourishing.
Yesterday our food experience was mixed. Egg rolls used to be awesome. The ones we had were exceptionally boring, much like frozen ones you can get at the Jewel and microwave at home. We got the Braised Shrimp and General Tao chicken. Shrimp was very good. Chicken was overcooked, tough. Large portions for both. It is a very nice environment

This was an above-average Chinese food restaurant for the area of Grayslake. Would most likely get food again from here. We had the egg drop soup, crab rangoon, pot stickers and beef, chicken and pork type noodle dinners which were good. Service was good but since we got there 30 minutes prior to them closing, they would not serve in the dining room. Not very cool. Instead we had to order to go and take it home. Overall good restaurant for the area. Would recommend it to others.
