Casa Bonita Mexican Restaurant & Tequila Bar
We kindly request all customers to please wear a face covering when entering our restaurant. As we start to encounter fall weather, we are excited to extend patio season with our heaters! Casa Bonita is "Lake County's Favorite" restaurant for Mexican food. Located in the heart of charming downtown Libertyville, Casa Bonita is known for its vast list of over 150 tequilas and the famous "Perfect Margarita."

The year round patio is enjoyed even in the winter where heat lamps allow guests to dine alfresco. Unlike the Mexican restaurant chains, Casa Bonita is an independent restaurant featuring a creative take on finely prepared, authentic Mexican recipes. Providing an array of recipe options, our food is made only with the freshest, quality ingredients selected daily from local purveyors.

I had a very nice meal with my family. The chicken enchiladas were some of the most delicious enchiladas I have eaten. The beans and rice were also very delicious! Childrenā€™s meals were nice, also! The ambience was warm and cozy. Our server was spectacular! I will definitely go there again!

Disappointed with the size of my meal. I ordered the carne asada dinner and the steak was small and thin for $25.99. The sides of rice and beans were small too, I left the restaurant hungry. The frozen strawberry margrita was very good. Good friendly service as always.

UPDATED REVIEW: As the years have passed (and ownership) Casa Bonita's light has faded. Many of the signature dishes I once enjoyed have been removed or dulled down to something no longer impressive. As portions and quality have diminished the cost has skyrocketed. I will miss the old Casa Bonita.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm surprised there are not better reviews for Casa Bonita. Ā We've been going there since they were in Waukegan. Ā If you're expecting cheap Mexican, this is the wrong place. Ā If you want good food and don't mind spending a little extra it's the only

Did not give tortillas with an order of vegetarians fajitas. Provided a refund of less than $4 for missing a major portion of the meal. Sabrina, the manager, said this is all she can do and was not able to even remotely offer anything other than $3 and some change on a $75 order. How is someone supposed to eat fajitas without the tortillas?

Poor management. Poor service. Poor food quality. I have never been to a restaurant where a server made a customer clean up their own spilled drink off of the floor or argued with the customer that their tip was too low and made them change it. At Casa Bonita, all of those things happened during one lunch time meal. Things have been obviously poor at this restaurant for a few years however, it has really gotten out of control.

I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 yrs. .They have a habanero salsa which I always ask for. They always bring the tiniest amount, in a container even smaller than the salsa that they usually bring out. I suppose this is because they think the salsa is so spicy that people would not finish it. Not only did I finish it but I ask for a refill since again, the container is so small. I got the bill and charged $2 each time, for a total of $4. They have never done this before. The house margarita was also very weak and mostly ice. Everything about the place seems cheap. This used

Great choices if tequilla. Really liked their house blend. I sat at the bar and the guy bartender was great and knowledgeable as hell. The food was delicious. I tried the fish tacos. Damn they were bomb. Had to try the margaritas as well. Yea i will 100% be back and bring friends with.

Not a good restaurant. Food is average at best. The manager doesn't know how to run a restaurant. I'm not wasting any more time on this review. Go to Uncle Julio's for a far better meal and drinks.

They have the best fish tacos and margaritas. And they are friendly! There were just too many flys when sitting out side

I'm not impressed. You will get a far tastier meal at Tacos el Norte. Granted you will need to go to Mundelein or Lake Bluff now, but that's worth it.

The menu is way to over priced for what it is they are offering. The food is very bland. The chips were stale and the salsa tasted like tomato juice with stuff mixed in, but somehow no salt or spice.

My boyfriend got a steak burrito with no beans. The messed up and gave him beans. They did make that right immediately, but he said there was no flavor. This burrito was thinner around than a loaf of baguette bread. Needless to say he

The ambiance and drinks are great, the food is serviceable.

First off, if you can get a table outside, do so - you get a beautiful view of the street, because they're right on the corner of downtown. Inside is still fun, though - the place is incredibly decorated, it's a very fun atmosphere.

In terms of drinks, my boyfriend got a piƱa colada and it was absolutely delicious. They have an extensive drink menu that all sounds tasty.

Food wise? Nothing to write home about - the chips were stale and clearly not made in house, but eh, they were free. I got the mushroom tacos and they

This is the closest to Mexican food I have had in my 20+ years of living in the USA. Their carnitas tacos are so good! The meat is tender, flavorful, the corn tortillas are very good too, and their rice, oh my! It makes me think of the times we went to the ranch for celebrations! I will definitely be back to Casa Bonita! Highly recommend it!

My wife and I have passed by this restaurant a million times. We always said we would stop by, and we finally did. The location looks great. It has indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant is in downtown Libertyville, and has a very nice location. We've always seen it packed all through the weekend. We did look the restaurant up on Yelp, and were surprised that it only had 3.5 stars. We were so curious as to why the rating was so low. With the amount of customers we always saw, we thought it may have been a glitch. It was not. We made reservations, so luckily we did not have to wait to

We are here a couple days ago and enjoyed it. We wanted outdoor seating and enjoyed the very large balcony patio they have. Many tables, plenty of well-planned space.

Our server was fine. She was a little abrupt and kept mentioning to us that the kids menu was only for under-12 kids, we had four children with us. So, ok....

My meal, enchiladas with mole was decent. The mole was good. Two enchiladas seemed a little chintzy and only cheese filling. Up-charge for meat. Still our meal was good. I'd go back with friends if they wanted.

I knocked off two stars since the food is very mediocre for the price. For a $22 plate of fajitas, I got exactly 5 shrimp and 5 slices of steak. The Trio Enchiladas, which was one of their best selling menu items, was very underwhelming and almost unpleasant to consume. But the real star of this restaurant is the drinks. We went on Wednesday during which they were offering $5 Palomas (grapefruit and tequila). These drinks where absolutely out of this world and I could not stop ordering them. I would recommend this place as a good drink destination with some nice appetizers including the fresh bowl

One star for location/patio seating and one for drinks. Nothing else worth mentioning. Chips and salsa below average, probably jarred salsa. Run of the mill menu, no variety. Seems like happening place when you walk by libertyville downtown area and wanted to give a try. Not as great as I thought it would be.

Good food and margaritas enjoyed even more when the mariachis came and played fun music. But our table was very wobbly which spilled out some of my margarita and the manager who stopped by to greet us didn't seem to care. Nice attentive waitress.

I visited yesterday for the first time and I did really like the place! Mind you it was 5 de mayo and it was super busy, but I had a reservation on the patio, where I always wanted to sit since I drive by every day on my way to work!

We didn't stay for food, but we did for drinks and Guacamole! Everything was so yummy and freshly made. I am sometimes skeptical about margaritas since I've had many bad experiences in other places where they just give you a margarita mix drink... but not here, I promise you!

Same deal with guacamole, freshly made even without the ingredients you don&apos

We placed a carry out order while visiting in the area and I am so glad we did! Tha steak fajita bowl was delicious, and a generous portion. Pair it with roasted poblano soup and you could split the whole enchilada with your dining partner. (See what I did there?). I would not hesitate to order from here again. In fact, it's a must do the next time we're in the area.
Locals have told me their margaritas are fantastic, the kind that sneak up on you.
Next time I look forward to trying the ceviche and the botana.
Sorry, no picture was taken. Just close you eyes and imagine expertly

I highly recommend their barbacoa and picadillo tacos! All tacos I've tried were fully loaded with meat. The beef in the barbacoa is super juicy and soft and really tasty! The same goes with the picadillo. Funny thing is, I actually ordered al pastor but was served with the picadillo instead. I'm so glad I just let it pass and didn't asked for it to be replaced anymore. Best decision I've made that day.
Try their cocktails as well. I'm not a hard drinker so their 28 Mile Mule is a bit too strong for me. But it was still good esp after some melted ice lol.
And they also serve free nacho chips
