Margaret Webb Pressler of the Washington Post writes "It's not all serious, though". Graeme Tsai, who is almost 8 and has been doing tae kwan do with his father, Robert, for a year at Flying Kick Fitness in Bethesda and says "Sometimes it's funny to take class with a parent." Graeme likes to show his father that he is more flexible and can kick higher, which has created some "friendly competition, " Robert Tsai.
This class is for ages 12+, this is a new program just started for young adults at Flying Kick. This program focuses on intensive activity, yet learning Tae Kwon Do and a few other martial arts. These martial arts techniques come from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the punches from boxing, and Aikido is used as part of these self-defense techniques.

Master A and his team been the greatest instructors for our son through virtual class. My son is building confidence and learning respect and discipline. He loves practicing his forms every day. Thank you for creating virtual classes and stayed connected with kids through the pandemic. We appreciate the whole team for being awesome 🥋.

Critical: Professionalism
Disappointing experience. My 4-year old son came to class a bit late (through no fault of his own). Master Shane proceeded to show him up and embarrass him. I can't recommend it.

The instructors at Flying Kick are excellent in teaching my son TaeKwonDo. Master A and Master Yassine make learning enjoyable and fun! We are glad in a time when the epidemic is hard on our children, he is enjoying an activity that is helping him in many ways. Thank you!

All 3 instructors are incredible and all bring a little something different to the classes. I like that they focus on learning through hard work and fun. Everyone learns better when they are happy and engaged. They are great at teaching beginners all the way up to black belts.

I think they also do a good job of holding kids accountable for their actions and instilling a sense of quiet discipline that allows focused students to learn even if there are potentially disruptive kids in the class.

I am so happy our friend recommended Flying Kicks to us (even though we don't live close - they

I trained here from when I was about 5 until I was 13 earned a black belt. Now that it’s been a few years I can certainly confirm that I would not have the discipline and athleticism I do now, if it wasn’t for Flying Kick. Summer camp, tough late night classes, playing dodgeball in class with many friends I made there, those will be some of my fondest memories of being young. Thanks Flying Kick!

I have been a black belt in Afghanistan and joined the Flying Kick last year. It is a whole new world of professional teachings and family environment. Now my two daughter proudly joined this center and are more than delighted. They can miss their lunch and class in school, but not their session in here. We can not feel prouder and merrier. My son is 10 moths old and I can not wait for him to stand and walk to this center and put the uniform and do it with us. Thank you for making it a family environment. Zaki

My athletic and competitive 10 y.o. daughter LOVES it. Master A and Master Shane are great. I was worried she was starting too late, but they have let her progress quickly and naturally and she's developed great interpersonal and leadership skills in the process. My daughter has quickly developed new skills and body confidence -- so important for her age. Taekwando has already helped her strength and agility in other team sports she is playing. Plus, it is BEAUTIFUL to watch her "form" -- it is really a challenge to her and has improved her coordination. The children really respond to the teaching

My three children and I have all practiced TKD at Flying Kick for 4+ years. We have all benefitted greatly, each in his or her way. I considered a number of studios before enrolling and what sets FK apart is the quality of instruction. Master A and Shane really go out of their way to make each child feel recognized, appreciated, and welcomed while still maintaining strict expectations and pushing each child to achieve as much as he or she can.

We have tried a few other martial arts studios in the area and never felt like they were anything "special". This is where Flying Kick is in a league of their own. This center is owned and run by Master "A"; he is the perfect blend of kind/patient and firm. He knows when to push the students to work harder and when to give praise and make your child feel like they are making progress towards their next stripe. He is very highly respected by his students and parents alike.

Our son has also had the pleasure of working with Mr. Shane and Bo. Again, stellar teachers with a

Terrific staff work with kids to motivate them to do their best. They teach concepts beyond just self defense, such as the "five tenets" of Tae Kwon Do: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit. Our 6 year old son loves it. (Not just for kids though, even though the majority of students are; there are family classes and the occasional adult joins the regular classes with the kids.)

The staff here is excellent. They work with all ages and treat the children and adults with respect. Great for young children who need to learn about the importance of practice and doing your best. We've seen a real improvement in motor skills and in dedication to completing difficult tasks.
